Weekend Photos - 04/05/19

Postby healey36 » Fri Apr 05, 2019 2:58 pm

Despite having little to show for it, I thought I'd start this week's "Weekend Photos" run.

Sarge grabbed this for me last week while scouring antique malls, a postwar Flyer 581 bridge:

Came in the original box, complete with its inserts. Both the label on the box, as well as the bridge itself, remain largely intact...nice.

The anal-retentive side of me tracked down a repro box for my childhood Dinky Silver Wraith:

I must have had a bushel of these Dinky/Corgi toys when I was a kid...somehow this is the only one that survived (at least in my possession). I picked up the box from a guy in Germany (the internet is wonderful thing).

Last, one from the archives:

Of all the stuff accumulated over the years, this Lionel 258 remains the favorite. Nicely refurbished, runs like a champ.

Nice Healy. Thank you for starting Weekend Photos this weekend.

You don't have to have a huge layout to enjoy this hobby. :D

Thanks for that, Wayne. Interesting, they call that a “typical Lionel” set-up, yet both trains running on it are clearly Ives. Looks like a pair of 325X-series electrics pulling 169X-series passenger cars. When Lionel took over, the 169X-series continued production for their O-27 sets, while the 325X-series went into the bin (or the river, depending on which myth one subscribes to).

Nicely fashioned cork roadbed for the era. Some Plasticville, and quite a few Marx accessories as well.

Thanks for the time machine! Have a particular soft spot for Plasticville as a child of the 1950s. :)

But sometimes we start small and the layout seems to get bigger and bigger...
