OST the Jan/Feb 2019 issue

Postby stephen neill » Tue Dec 18, 2018 10:32 am

Has anyone on this forum received their copy of this issue?

I did not receive my copy of the Nov/Dec issue, and after patiently waiting a long time, in early to mid November I called Whitewater. A very nice lady on the phone confirmed that my subscription runs through sometime in Spring 2019, and she said that they would mail me a replacement when they sent out the next big mailing which I took to mean the next mailing of any Whitewater magazine. I said ok.

I still have not received that issue, and I have not received the Jan/Feb issue.. I think it is time for me to call again. I know of one person who has received the Jan/Feb issue and I would like to be able to say that several people have received the Jan/Feb issue.

I don't need to be one of the first few to receive each issue or even one of the first 100; I just need to receive it.

Rufus, if you will PM me or email me at suneill@yahoo.com we can discuss this privately.

Thank you. Steve Neill

Steve,

FWIW, their website shows the Nov/Dec as the current issue.

I literally got my box of copies of #101 for taking to meets on Sunday; subscription copies are usually at least a week or more later. I seem to get my own subscription issue about 2 weeks after everyone else,

Thanks very much for the reply's.

A friend tells me he has the Jan/Feb issue in his hand; i don't have the Nov/Dec issue in my hand. I have exchanged emails with "Rufus" privately, and now know his email.

I called again today, no names mentioned. I got a different person today (naturally). She tells me that when they say the next bulk mailing, what they really mean is when they accumulate "enough" complaints from people who didn't get the magazine that they paid for, they will go ahead and send some out. It seems that among other things, plain English is in short supply at Whitewater.

I asked, if she could see the actual mailing list that was used for the Jan/Feb mailing (not just the subscriber list). She said the printer actually mails the magazines, but she could see the list they sent to the printer, and I was on it.

I will post here if and when I ever get the Nov?Dec issue, and again if and when I ever get the Jan?Feb issue.

The lady I spoke to in November said she would likely be at March Meet. I asked the lady today to tell the other lady that at March Meet I would come by the table and would ask for copies of the back issues that I had not received by that time.

Both ladies were very pleasant, just no results.

Not making excuses for anyone, but a bad time of the year for shipping stuff. Mailing anything is a crap shoot. I sent a check to a friend and a about a week later, I got 1/2 of my business size envelope in a plastic baggy along with a note of apology. I called my friend and asked if if he had received anything. He said "1/2 an envelope, which I threw in the trash." I asked if he still had that trash and he said ""Yes." I told him to fish out the partial envelope and look inside it. There was my check which I had folded in half. Case closed!

My solo copy from the printer (why I get one is beyond me as I get an entire box of every issue for meets) came totally unprotected in a Priority flat rate mailer in the pouring rain onto my porch on Sat.....................soaking wet,

The latest I have is the Nov/Dec issue...seemed to be on or about the schedule other issues were received.

RFT, I'd say you need better connections! Maybe if you contacted the Editor...oh wait, never mind!

Wow! The Jan/Feb issue arrived today!!

While I have your attention, a little housekeeping:

E7 - When I called in early to mid November there wasn't a whole lot of Christmas mail in the system. F3

Robert - Yes, through the Aug/Sept issue, I got mine about the same time as other people.

Jay - I can (could have) go you one better. I used to know the Editor's father; visited with him in his home; he has a nice O scale layout. But I Haven't seen or spoke with him in the last 12+ years.

Rufus - No tears, I am actually chuckling at how poor their "system" is for sending replacement magazines; particularly since I know I can get my replacement from you or the other person at March Meet.

I had actually written a parody on "Please Mr. Postman", but it needs to be sung. Maybe at March Meet, if that's how I get the replacement.

I will still post when and if I get the Nov/Dec issue. For any of you that don't get your mag, you know what the drill is.

Perhaps you mean the owner's father?

Yeah, the "publisher"'s father.

BUT, hold the phone Andy, I messed up again! I wrote my post before I opened the envelope. Glory be!!! It's the Nov/Dec issue!! Perhaps my second phone call encouraged them to go ahead and send it; or perhaps not.

The egg is running down my chin.
