On this date 77 years ago I was in the second grade of school. I recall going to movies and seeing "News of the World". The important subject seemed to be some events in Europe and Asia. There were countries fighting each other and, we were told, many people were getting killed. I don't think that we saw bodies. Although, it was a Sunday in 1941, we had heard on the radio that our country had been attacked by another country. Soon this became known as World War Two. In school we learned wfere all of the countries that were involved were on the big pull down maps.
Many of the men in our area were gone to fight in the war but the biggest change in the Upper Ohio Valley was that all of the factories, mills, mines and othe essential industries were working again and the "Great Depression" was finally over in our area.
We have had several other minor, in comparison, wars since then.
I, personally, was not directly involved in any of these various action but have known many that were and some that did not return home from them.
My hope is never to see anything like WW II again and that all will learn from history. I hate to end with a downer but I don't think that will happen.

Re: 77 years ago
77 years ago, I hadn't been invented yet, having been a War Baby; yet, having seen Newsreels and movies of that war and many others, as well as daily news reports of the violence committed among individuals in daily life, I am caused to wonder if the evil side of us will ever fully take over the good and destroy the whole of existence.
