I don't know that it needs to be self aware to be dangerous. It just needs to be able to manipulate the environment directly and then be given ambiguous instructions or instructions/parameters that may not be fully understood by the parties issuing them. Parents do this with young children all the time. aka I didn't mean for you to do that!

Then we are writing about 2 different sorts of AI and two very different sets of problems - what you have described is something we've had forever - human error or in today's parlance ID-10-t user errors.

On one hand I wish we did have flying cars like the Jetsons. Then I remember how bad most people are with just regular driving.

I think I'd have to move to an abandoned missile silo (assuming it could be decontaminated) to not have to worry about the debris raining down from the flying demolition derby that would be almost a certain-tee.

I'm pretty sure that I saw in the News just yesterday that a manufacturer is ready to produce exactly that - a flying car that easily transfers from one mode of transportation to the other, with availability being two years from now . In fact, the report made the point that drivers of such car-planes would need both a driver's license as well as a pilot's license.

Yes, seem to recall that was Toyota, but it was years away from actual production for the public. Think of the compliance issues involved on such a thing let alone the licensing...
