Question
Re: Question
Rufus,
I was teaching then and I agree and I could see the interest and excitement that took hold in schools everywhere.
During my next 40 years I could see just the opposite happening. I blame educators for this change. Teachers can
and do make a huge difference in what is happening in schools. IMHO during the late 20th century social issues
became more important to most teachers because that is what they were being taught.

There were and are a lot of reasons. I don't know that we as a country had a more singular focus in the last 60 years.
All we do now is bicker and blame while spiraling downwards in denial of reality.
The owls may indeed not be what they seem but still serve an imperative function: they remind us to look into the darkness.

Re: Question
If you will permit, let me confess being a rank-amateur when it comes to www stuff...…….
When I run a "spyware" scan, using a product recommended by a Certain-somebody on this forum, for which I am grateful, of course, the categories (ww?) listed under the heading Total Items Scanned are:
+Files Scanned
+Memory Items Scanned
+Registry Objects Scanned
What is the difference between a "Memory item" and a "File" ? Isn't a file a memory?
This morning, the service listed and removed 358 undesirables for me.
Would somebody be so kind as to explain this to me? Please.

The memory that it scans is within the memory chips on the mother board. The files that it scans are like the ones you would keep in my documents. Such as where you might have pictures stored. Also files within the operating system that can be infected.
The undesirable items that it eliminated are most likely tracking cookies that you picked up when browsing websites

That's a small percentage of it and goes right to illustrating my point of pointing and blaming.

Maybe cookies but almost certainly Adware and Spyware that installed itself just as noted above - while browsing.

Well, put yourself in their shoes and give that some thought.

Sits at home passing out goodies to the kiddies and he is dressed as Rufus T. Firefly.

Darn clever, but are we sure black vinyl and very high shoes don't figure in?
