Mastercraft Models from LA ...

Hello all

Who has heard of Mastercraft Models ...of LA , CA ??? 30's / 40's ???...

New toy from Indy ( thank you Dan ..great show) ...

Gentlemen from AZ ...had on his table a box with a cast aluminum tank car kit ...split tank akin to Miloco & Mini-Scale ....but different ..please see photos ... seller said the owner of Mastercraft worked as a tool and die worker for Atheran .... and developed his own O scale line .... along with the tank car kit ...there was the remains of "Mastercraft"....one small humble box filled with some interesting pieces ..which I'll lay out and post some images ... he was building a steam engine ..... boiler ...two halves that mate together ...!!! I checked MR 1939 -41 and 46-47 ..no sign of ads ... anyone out there have any info about Mastercraft ?

Wow, that cast part set is very cool. Anyone else seen these or better yet have one?
Carey, how does one resist not finishing one of these?

I'm involuntarily thinking where I'd tap and drill, and what other parts are needed.

I have the aluminum MiLoco and a heavier Mini-Scale. I had thought they were one piece - but I can see the seam. I am guessing some kind of adhesive? I would clean and stick it together with epoxy.

Maybe a dumb question, but is there a reason that you need to take it apart?

Back to the Bulldog: what’s your favorite picture book on E-7s? I have only an SP paperback book, and it is mostly F-units.

I'm not following where you're going .
Do you need prototype photos to choose an appropriate version to finish?
Or do you lack a basic EMD E7 plan for the carbody details you should be finishing all of those with?

Hello all.....the castings are pretty good....screw to base and epoxy seam?.......here are some photos of the balance the the Mastercraft Models company......some items marked pattern, bronze bits on trees ....very nice quality detail on the trucks ...interesting little steamer project.......this could have all been thrown in a box when WW2 began....never to be touched again ??? ....hopefully someone, some where , will be able to.shed some light on Mastercraft Models....

I am mostly PRR oriented. There is a guy (beware, as this is from memory, or the lack thereof) named Paul K. Withers that put out a pile of paperbacks, one in particular on E units.

A slow drum roll while I do some Net searches.

Turns out my memory is not so bad, and Ol' Paul put out a ton of books on VARIOUS roads:

You will like it because it also covers Alco PA's. The problem might be finding a copy!

Mine is around the house somewhere, but just EXACTLY where that "somewhere" is, only the good Lord knows.

I think mine cost about 20 bucks new.
