Springdale is only 10 or 12 miles away from Freeport, but I don't ever remember seeing a home such as this. It really has class and character. Now I'm wondering if it may now be the VFW in Springdale, which is on old rte. 28. I know the VFW has a very large front yard, (estate size), (with the ever present howitzer down near the road), but damn!, I never paid that much attention to the building itself.

Sadly, a lot of great old homes that dominated the landscape no longer stand - too expensive to maintain, heat, taxes, etc. have reduced many to just memories and pictures. Maybe this one still stands in another incarnation.

Sure. Got enough money and you can get anything built. I really like many of the details on the exterior about the windows and those flared out chimneys. Interior must have been pretty special.
