Tell him you saw one of his guitar solos on YouTube and wanted to drop in and say hello. Take a train engine and tell him about your hobby. If that does not start a free-flowing conversation like we have here, ask him how he got started on a musical career. People love to talk about themselves.
I have thought about your remarkable suggestion since I first read it. Such a visit doesn't interest me. Even if a resident there were Paul McCartney or Mick Jagger, it still wouldn't interest me.
However, if, as you mentioned, concerning our hobby, such a personage in residence there had contacted me, expressing an interest in model train layouts, having seen, perhaps, the Lionel layout @ FAO Schwarz in NYC, which I had refurbished several times and maintained, before the store vacated the address, and had asked to see my layout at my home, then, though at first being a bit dubious, I might be interested in visiting the facility providing care to such a person.
Might.
If I am going to make any adventure by auto before this Winter sets-in, it would be as follows:
First, visit Rufus in Pennsylvania;
Second, continue-on to Pittsburgh to visit a number of lifelong friends there;
Third, leave Pittsburgh for the westward leg of my adventure, to Kansas City, to visit a client;
Fourth, drive to visit you and kitty in Arizona;
Fifth, onward to visit Roger;
Sixth, visit a dear friend in Florida;
Then, return home.
Of course, all of that would totally depend on having been invited and welcomed to make such visits, before even gassing-up.
I'd have to work on having the
oomph for such an adventure before any such notion could take-off.
