Re: STREET LIFE

Postby MurphOnMillerAve » Mon Sep 03, 2018 2:02 pm

When I want some of the old classical stuff, I put a cassette in the thing-a-ma-bob and letting the several Bose speakers which had long-ago been situated at various spots throughout the main floor send out the Rachmaninov, Bach, or Chopin, vibrating most every corner and rattling teeth (not the Chopin.)

Aside from that, I have found myself searching YouTube, for such music as Joan Baez ("Diamonds and Rust,") and the Carpenters. (I have found myself getting in sentimental moods, of late, at moments, looking back to the 70's with much nostalgia and joy that I made it through.

Not sure that it does actually. It was a different time and place that I visit then

Wolf, I find it exceedingly difficult to believe that there is ANY way anything could devolve from a Top 40 FORMAT! It's like starting at the Challenger Deep and trying to go lower!

In most sections of the country in which I have lived or driven through I could find a bit of classical music ( you know, Bach, Beethoven, Stravinsky and that type) on public radio and public tv stations. But not in Georgia. Kentucky, Alabama, Mississippi, YES! But not in Georgia. I guess we don't need
anymore of that sill cultural stuff here. WE got UGa football.

Cleveland is fortunate to have an excellent classical music station WCLV 104.9 and an excellent big band station WKHR 91.5. Both are available on the internet.

We used to have the best rock station in the nation WMMS 100.7 (the Buzzard) but it has devolved.

I have a CD of Benny Goodman's 1938 Carnegie Hall performance in the summer car. Sing Sing Sing is the right thing to play when you're heel and toeing your way along a twisting stretch of 2 lane blacktop.
You begin flying with a full bag of luck and an empty bag for experience. The object is to fill the bag of experience before you empty the bag of luck.

IMHO almost anything but "Rap" and "Hip-Hop" could be appropriate for that setting.
However I don't see any need to add other sounds to that scene.
The sounds of nature are all that are needed to compliment the sights of nature.
