Schools have more than enough problems, without dealing with the occasional mass murderer. I'm reminded of Westerns where the sheriff who's been hired to clean up the town requires that everyone check their guns when coming in to town. We all have to make some sacrifices to enjoy civilized life together. Of course, I don't want to give up my thermonuclear bombs, nerve gas, death stars, etc., but I'll do it, to enjoy the advantages of civilized society.

Why can't we get it through our thick heads that guns and civil society don't mix?

Because the badguys are always there, lurking, waiting, and sizing-up the weak(er than they) so they can pounce. Predator and prey. The need for defense is story of the whole world, animal and human.

Have you noticed that in the so called gun-less countries like the UK the rest of Europe and Australia that you still have to go through airport security and be searched to get on an airplane.

The world with it's ever increasing population is becoming more uncivilized every day...

I never understood and probably will never understand biblical events in the accepted manner.
The event described above could be the same as the one near the start of "2001" to some people but expressed differently.

Then, in your estimation/interpretation, what is the enigmatic black obelisk-like object (except for its lack of tapering), both in the battling apes scene and in the final absorption of Jupiter scene? ("It's full of stars.")

P.S. Numerous "stars" that we see in the night sky are actually dual-stars, with a Red Giant being accompanied by a Blue Dwarf. When I was in undergraduate school, it was theorized by some in the science department that Jupiter might have been a star that never "turned on," ignited, which seemed to be further supported when our machines sent there confirmed that Jupiter is wholly gaseous, with no actual solid surface to ever land on. Maybe, Jupiter is waiting to be ignited, something that would absorb the entire solar system, as the two suns begin to travel together.

That is the question that almost got me kicked out of Sunday School when I was in the third grade.
I later decided, rightly or wrongly, that the Old Testament is basically Jewish history and the other
people were non Jewish. I accepted that and was satisfied with my answer.

I said earlier that IMHO religion is a personal thing and what works for you is what matters.
