Seems like a justifiable reason; human trafficking might be another, near and dear to this forum, drug trafficking....and with a wee bit of thought I'll wager that there are a few more obvious.

You should know that you are being observed and monitored in nearly action that you take in this country.

They are running facial recognition at the airports and EVERYONE there is under surveillance. I wouldn't be surprised that the technology hasn't been installed at big city transit hubs as well, NYC Port Authority bus terminals, Penn and Grand Central Stations. There are monitoring camera's on the Ann Arbor Ride Buses I use to get around at work. At least two inside and one facing out at the traffic. The data is being collected but there is little in the way of online instant access storage and there is a limit on the computer power to do real time analysis. Stuff is archived and can be pulled for analysis/tracking. There is also equipment around every federal court house and NYC has special units for events like New Years Eve, Macy's Day Parade, marathon. We are being watched and the info stored. I don't think we have the bandwidth to do the volume of real time analysis you see in TV and the movies but it is possible and may closer than we may be comfortable with.

How do you know that some of this is not already in place here and being used in the background If you think it's zero, your naivete is both amusing and refreshing in equal amounts.

I'll tell you about some background things. My wife drives a school bus. One afternoon her coworker forgot to refuel a bus for his trip. After picking up 2 students from a school he saw his bus on E. Not wanting to be embarrassed for running out. He went to buy Fuel. Being a cheap guy. He crossed the river into NJ. Where diesel in 75 cents a gallon cheaper. After fueling his bus would not start. A few minutes later several NJ police came into the gas station. A few minutes later his dispatcher showed up with another bus driver. He was fired on the spot. Lucky for him he only had 2 kids on his bus. Their parents were semi ok with it. They felt that the guy was dumb but no harmful. Honest mistake. No charges filed. Why wouldn't the bus start. His GPS. tracking had him off course. It's set to disable the bus after it stops.
Here's another thing. My Iphone will arrange all my photos by person. It places all my photos of my wife into i file. All the photos of my kid in another. If i have 5 or more photos of you they will be lumped together.
Ever see those 4 cameras mounted on the corners of police cars? They are license plate readers. Taking photos and telling police officers who's car is in the parking lot.

Somewhat related to the topic of People Control, I saw mentioned on the News that Japan has no problem with pressures and crime in their society from immigrants, unlike all of Europe and the USA which have problems some have blamed on immigrants. Why does Japan not have such problems? They do not allow ANY immigrants in, whatsoever.

I found that to be remarkable.

A good American friend of mine has lived in Japan for thirty-six years...there are plenty of non-Japanese folks living in Japan. I don't know his citizenship status...I suspect the path to citizenship is exponentially more difficult.

The Japanese government has been faced with a declining population (low birthrate and people just leaving) along with an aging population that is requiring more assistance as the younger family members have left the country. In response to these changes they have been quietly relaxing their immigration rules/policies to make up for those deficiencies. The cultural pressures are giving way to pragmatism.

Whichever it was got it wrong and a few seconds of fact checking would have addressed that deficit. This might also reinforce my contention that trusting network news for facts is done at the risk of the watcher and that a healthy skepticism should be cultivated by the viewer.
