Actually, quite a few have Mexico as their final destination so that will get tested.

And most of the rest would like nothing more than to walk through the U.S. to Canada.

While they pass through, all the folks in CA that were migrating to Oregon and Wash St. are so aggravated with living there that they could move to the Honduras.

Really :?: :?: :?:
"More than one-quarter of the total homeless population nationwide lives in California, roughly 114,000. The vast majority are “unsheltered” — a more bureaucratic term to describe the thousands living on the streets, under freeways and tucked into grassy fields and parks in cities all around the state."

None of these folks seem to be interested in going to Canada. :?: :?: :?:

This caravan coming from the south are headed to sunny Southern California, They know that Roy And Jerry will welcome them with open arms and help support them.

The weather is far more amenable to living out of doors than Canada, and, frankly, that's where the bus stops and turns back north.

It's unfortunate that actually reading the cited article seems to be lost; caravan of ~1000, not thousands with about 2/3'rds looking ot enter the US. Classic hysteria over very little vs. all of the other very real problems this country faces coupled with a lot of statements that are simply not true.

Here is the caption from under that photo. Nothing about coming to the USA.
Hundreds of Central Americans attend a mass before they begin a Via Crucis on Palm Sunday from the southern state of Mexico to the center and north of the country, demanding respect for their human rights, asylum and reports of violence in their countries in Tapachula, Mexico March 25, 2018. Reading and reading comprehension are at an all time low in this US. What of expect from a country where folks get their news from their phones?

Organized by a group of volunteers called Pueblos Sin Fronteras, or People Without Borders, the caravan is intended to help migrants safely reach the United States, bypassing not only authorities who would seek to deport them, but gangs and cartels who are known to assault vulnerable migrants.

Organizers like Rodrigo Abeja hope that the sheer size of the crowd will give immigration authorities and criminals pause before trying to stop them.
“If we all protect each other we'll get through this together,” Abeja yelled through a loudspeaker on the morning they left Tapachula, on Mexico's border with Guatemala, for the nearly monthlong trek.

When they get to the US, they hope American authorities will grant them asylum or, for some, be absent when they attempt to cross the border illegally. More likely is that it will set up an enormous challenge to the Trump administration's immigration policies and its ability to deal with an organized group of migrants numbering in the hundreds.

The number of people who showed up to travel with the caravan caught organizers by surprise, and has overwhelmed the various towns they've stopped in to spend the night. Pueblos Sin Fronteras counted about 1,200 people on the first day.

Organizers estimate that about two-thirds of people are planing on crossing into the United States undetected or asking for some type of protection like asylum.

Illegal entry is illegal entry. I don't know why we have such a hard time understanding that in this country. Try sneaking into some other country illegally and see what happens.

A half dozen mercenaries, each armed with an M-60 machine gun and several cans of ammo, spaced far enough apart, but with inter-locking fields of fire, could wait until they all crossed the border into the US, and let them have it. Then, without fanfare, the mercs could leave the area, (and the bodies), and that may possibly deter the next batch from comin' in illegally. (I'm kiddin', but it does piss me off). Just where do these azzhole organizations (the "without borders"people") get off thinkin' it's ok for them to break the law? More burden on the states and the Fed, what with welfare, free housing, free medical care, etc. Well hell, it ain't free; we pay!
