The average train of thought isn’t big enough to carry a full sized opinion on any subject.

I think they're on to something. The "cookie" part of Oreos have no flavor. Therefore, they are totally wasted calories. The filling is OK, but I don't know how you could practically sell it.
In my more hardcore times, I'd buy cans of ready-to-spread frosting. Ffuck the cake. Maybe, they could sell the Oreo filling in the same one pound cans?

Our nearby Baskin-Robins, part of the local Dunkin Donuts, now carries a new-to-me flavor which is composed of vanilla ice cream with plenty of Oreos (sans "Stuff," I believe,) crumbled-up into it. Pretty tasty!

I bet the Oreos contribute more to the crunch, than to the taste.

I'm not sure. I don't have a careful, discerning memory of that. Crunch, yes. Flavor? Somewhat. I'll take that as a mission and try to check it out this very day.
Re: Hobo Jungle
Murph,I remember you said you were off ice cream, wishful thinking, but how long has it been since you were at a Baskins-Robins?
I think that has been around for awhile. I like it. Some products are made different for different parts of the country and maybe
they make tastless Oreos for California.

My guess is that they throw something in the vanilla ice cream, to make it taste more like Oreo filling.

A few years back, my wife started buying "Reduced Calorie" Oreos, I referred to them as "Reduced Taste" with mounting urgency and vehemence after each shopping run until the heresy was ended. Perhaps that is what you are getting served Roy, if so, I feel your pain.

I never heard of reduced calorie Oreos, let alone tasted one. I might buy a one pound can of Oreo filling, but never the tasteless "cookies". This reminds me that Little Debbies used to sell chocolate chip cookies with filling between two of them. They were pretty good.

It's somehow oddly comforting to realize I am not the only MTJ denizen with a sweet-tooth.
