Calories are calories - 120 calories in 5 oz of white wine on average. For reasons that escape rational thought, people seem to want to think that drinking wine has no calories associated with it.

Beer is not fattening . It's the 3 dozen wings you eat with it. Or that most people fall asleep within 2 hours of having a few beers. Your body burns of alcohol first. Then as you sleep all those wings get stored for later. That's my story and i'm sticking to it

That is a good story, Robert, and I appreciate your contributing it to the conversation. However , I never in my whole life, including the pimply adolescent days, heard that beer was not fattening. Are"beer bellies" a concept only I have heard of? Did I get it wrong? Should it be "skinny bellies "? (I'm trying to be humorous, there, but still serious about the main bone-of-contention that emerged in the conversation I was having with some guys recently.)

No. You asked about 3 different alcoholic types of beverages and not vegetables vs. candy. You want to compare apples and aardvarks to be able justify preconceived notions about drinking beer making you fat and wine not being capable of doing the same, etc.

I have no comments on the beverages above. Went through several phases concerning them and now seldom have any. I take some pain medicine and
I think I worry about the alcohol and drug reactions.

On a different subject, Rufus has become one of my all time favorite Christmas characters. I know that won't last long.

My one encounter with brussel sprouts, I think I was maybe six years old? I was very afraid of my father, and I somehow got them down. I looked up at my father, and immediately barfed them up. I would've eaten them again, but my mother whisked the plate away.
