THE ORVILLE!!!

Postby Seaboard Air Line Fan » Thu Nov 23, 2017 8:45 am

Has anyone been watching this show on FOX?

One of the funniest episodes was when one of the crew dressed up android Issac as Mr. Potato Head:

I can't see it lasting though, looks like it costs too much to produce and FOX has a way of dumping shows that are good but expensive.

And for Rufus...they even had an episode with a killer klown

Interestingly demented, but I recall surfing on by after a very brief but refreshing stop at the station.

Indeed. I found it puerile at the best of moments.

I look forward to The Orville every week. I think tonight's episode is a rerun, but probably one I haven't seen.(I missed the first three episodes, because I didn't know about the show.)

It has a lot of the flavor of Star Trek:TNG, but the sense of humor is different.

Ok, it's probably better than 90% of the rest of network TV.......

It's alright to disagree with me, Rufus. I am afraid I'm going to lose more of my favorite programs, as more men are outed for sexual harassment and other sexual offenses.

I'm not sure I fully disagree with you - given the rest of the network catalog, it's well above the bottom of the barrel.

There's very little that I watch anymore; it's a short list. But that's ok since I'd rather read a book or build another model.

I don't watch much, either. Charlie Rose is a big loss, because you'd hear from everyone on his show. Some really interesting people. Rose could be obnoxious at times - sometimes so much, I'd turn him off. But, he was no dummy. He did his homework, and he knew what was going on.

I'm hoping I'll feel well enough to start building again. It's been years, but I'm sort of sneaking up on a build. Working through details on the computer.

Am I the only lug who enjoys:

Ray Donovan.
Shameless.
The Young Pope (which I hope returns.)
Young Sheldon. (My favorite line so far, "Think, Monkey. Think.") (I cannot stand the older Sheldon, the lead character on The Big Bang Theory, who is one of the most self-centered, nauseating, ego-centric males I have ever encountered. I realize that is the point of his character, but I do not find that amusing or smile-inspiring.
My wife likes Lucifer, which I can't even stay in the same room with.

I haven't even heard of any of them. Is The Young Pope like Doogie Howser, M.D.? Because I never watched that, either.

Another show I really look forward to, is Better Call Saul.

It's unlike anything I have ever seen or imagined . Something far off-center, anchored in 2000 years of history and tradition. A 30-something year old American elected Pope, absolutely determined to have his way.

Have you seen Shoes of the Fisherman, starring Anthony Quinn as a Russian Pope?

Oh yes, at least twice. I loved it.

However, this TV series is a whole other message (which my wife and I are still trying to discern clearly. :? )

P.S. I watched a bit of that Orville show tonight , the part where two guys entered a chapel to make copies of pages from a holy book. Their appearance changed in mid-caper.

I wasn't captured.
