The Canadian folk-rock star is putting more than 230 of his vast collection of Lionel trains up for auction in Los Angeles in December, some with estimated selling prices of up to $9,000, Julien’s Auctions said on Thursday.

I know what you mean and I feel the same way. Neil Young's contribution to Lionel - TMCC is huge.

Considering the greying of the "Baby Boomers" who are the bulk of the collecting crowd, perhaps the reason for the sell offs is to get rid of it before it goes in the tank. Also, with the collecting thing, a lot of the thrill is of the chase, and once that is over, the thrill is gone somewhat.

On second thought, maybe NOT so much: Young, who divorced his wife Pegi in 2014 after a 36-year marriage, said it was time for others to enjoy the items. A portion of the auction proceeds will benefit the Bridge School in California, which Pegi Young co-founded in 1986 for children with severe speech and physical impairments.

Sheryl Crow doesn't look like she'd be interested in this stuff either.

When I was a kid I didn't care much for Young's work, but I have to say that as both of us have gotten older the old coot's material is more appealing.

When Young divorced Pegi, he gave her the Broken Arrow ranch, and moved to L.A. He's with Daryl Hannah now. Two of his sons have cerebral palsy, and a daughter has epilepsy.

I'm thinking he probably has less room, now - plus, his kids are grown. May be factors in the sale.

Yup, you're right...Daryl Hannah is the woman in his life now. I recall reading Crow was rumored to be a player at some point after the Armstrong debacle. Whatever, more power to him.

No interest in bidding here...I need to get rid of some stuff.
