You missed the big one. Get the media out from campaigning for their candidates. Opinionated news is all we get anymore as they try to sway the vote to who they want.

The press has always been a part of elections.

To make such a change would require the elimination of a free press and imposing controls over free speech as well. More changes to the Constitution that will not happen.

There was a time in this fair land when the media were, more or less, evenly divided between the forces of good (Republicans) and evil (Democrats). In the fullness of time, through mergers, business failures, and so forth, media have become monolithically Left. Alternate sources of information will emerge, slowly. In the meantime we on the virtuous Right do what we can to strangle today's MSM.

If you mean what you say and there are many that have similar feelings I don't think people in the U.S. will ever be able to reconcile differences.
Might as well dig the hole and shove our country in. I have really been amazed at how we have become.

There was a time in this country when TV news was on for 15 minutes a day and then it increased to 1 hour. Now it is 24 hrs 7day a week entertainment. Mostly biased opinionated BS that they try to pass of as journalism. And all these so called journalist are coming from progressive liberal universities. And when there is not much going on they create the stories.

Newspapers had opinion pages where they and others could express their opinions. Now the whole paper has a bias and opinionated stories they pass off as news.

And now it appears that the majority of the population gets their news and info from social media like facebook where most of it is fake news.

Yes we are on the internet and in the forum discussions we are sharing our opinions as to how we see things in the world. That is our reality. flawed as it my very well be. Sometime others here have the same reality and others have a different reality. Never the twain shall meet.

Yes we are on the internet and in the forum discussions we are sharing our opinions as to how we see things in the world. That is our reality. flawed as it my very well be. Sometime others here have the same reality and others have a different reality. Never the twain shall meet.

Oh, I dunno, I've met in-person and spent some time with Mitch, Hev, Roger, Tony H, Pete (Dirt), Andre G, and Dennis B, and even Nick, and those meet-ups were pretty darn nice reality. I've very much wanted to meet in-person Frank53, but so far that has been limited to e-mails and the phone, all of which have been totally enjoyable, on a personal level.

And I've thought about driving all the way to Arizona to see The Wayne, but no warm-and-welcoming invitation has been offered as yet. I did get as far as Kansas, though, and thought about a sojourn or two, but.....?

Also, I've been considering a visit to the art gallery (Tramp) in NYC and a special trip into PA to visit a certain devotee-of-clowns......... ......We'll see.

Back in the day, say ca. 1950, pretty nearly every city had two newspapers, one spouting the Democrat line, the other the Republican. Find me a city (other than NYC and a couple others) where that is true today.
In my dotage I cannot find a democrat in national life, or state life, who ought not be tarred and feathered. I give you Chuck U Schumer and Jerry Brown
TV? Other than a limp attempt by FNC to be balanced, TV is a wasteland of Dem propaganda; if that is insufficient then contrary stories are buried.

We have always had strongly held differences. Except for national emergencies these differences are resolved by whomever can buy the most votes while the losers wait until the next go-around...except, of course, for this year, pussy hats and all.

Some historical perspective could provide comfort. Be happy you didn't live in 1850-1860.

I have held on to a little bit of hope for some time.
I think I am about to lose that bit.
I have always been an optimist but that is going fast.
I think it would be best for me to try to avoid these types of discussions.
