I don't thik most of the fleet is nuclear powered. The capital ships (carriers) are, but not the smaller ones. Anyway, given the lamentable performance of the Navy recently, can a nuclear incident be far behind? :x :x

Carriers and subs......

One hopes not.

The Fukushima plant disaster while initiated by a tsunami caused by an earthquake was promoted also in part by a dubious design and failed back-up generators that also stored the spent fuel core(s) adjacent to the reactor....

Well, maybe. Not like people successfully plan for every natural disaster that can occur...... Let's see in CA there's earthquakes, fires, mudslides, drought, and what might be a overabundance of aggressive all-around stupidity, but folks do still live there..........for the climate.

in CA there's earthquakes,
Best to avoid known earthquakes zones and take other precautions
fires,
Last I heard, not unknown in other parts. Best not to live in canyons, no matter how picturesque--although that didn't help the folks in wine country
mudslides,
It rains here. Folks who bought in those picturesque canyons have to worry about that, too
drought,
aw fer..no drought anywhere else, I suppose
We don't get tornadoes, hurricanes, bugs in summer
and what might be a overabundance of aggressive all-around stupidity
I presume you're speaking of New York City, Philadelphia, Chicago, Detroit, Ann Arbor, Washinton DCC. Out here, in La La Land, we only have to worry about the transplants from those cesspools who live in LA, SF, and so forth.
Whatever
Why do I bother with arrant snobbery mixed with jealosy...
But you all do have more trains and train shows. There is that.

Could Californians just be a little more obvious with their "stupidity" just because there are more Californians?

No. Stupidity is equally spread over the entire earth. [opinion]

China is a good example of stupidity, look what they are doing to their environment. Looks like los Angeles air when I lived in California.

Indeed it is and no one should underestimate the human race in its desire to charge madly towards it.

I thought it was quite a lot worse 20 years ago and that some had been improved

Not a reaction exclusive to governments - denial of reality seems to the solution to almost everything now - we are living in the era of the overt big lie....

I don't know. I doubt that very few will admit to or can accept that answer.

Most want to believe one or the other story since that supports their personal reality.

The ability to exercise independent thought is rapidly fading as our country becomes populated by sheeple just waiting to be told what to think and believe.

Almost wish "they" would hurry this so I can quit worrying about "it".
