And yet the people seem to love violence and blood and guts in the movies and media. Lots of money to be made promoting it.

Well, it's not like they make horror movies where people are unknowingly drinking toilet water. Why would anyone do that to their dorm roommate?

It's an animal instinct. One roommate left water bottles on the other's side. In order to let that roommate know her stuff was placed on the wrong side of their room. It was urinated on. Known as marking your territory. Law enforcement must love Facebook. It makes their job so much easier.

If it were a horror movie, it would be where people knowingly are being forced to drink toilet water...........

Why would anyone do that to their dorm roommate?

Anyone that's lived in a college dorm and had roommates can tell you that this is the least than happens. Whatever means are employed to assign roommates tend to fail and fail badly........

My roommate in undergraduate freshmen year was ideal - he was a minister's son and was an angel. In contrast, I was the wild one (if you can believe it. ) Yet, he did not asked to be changed. :)

His tolerance is to be admired.

In my freshman year I managed to not dismember mine and bury the parts in woods, or just feed him to my Uncle's pigs.

I may have erred.

OK. So, here's an insane one from the Wild Roomates file, which had been planned for weeks, we later learned. It took place in this freshmen dorm, about a month into the academic year. My window was just left of that left pillar, 4th floor.

Oh man-o-man, the guy living right next to us :( , behind that first pillar on the left, had gone into town to thrift-stores to find himself an old heavily stuffed (horsehair, I think he sought) old sofa, got friends to help him heft it back to the dorm, and established it as a home for guinea pigs. He bought them and/or swiped them from the lab, and let then loose in the sofa, to dig tunnels and borrow and grow a bit. Then , one infamous night, he waited until the more popular guys were standing at the foot of the entrance stairs (seen here), and among the shrubbery, smooching it up with girlfriends. Good ol' Monty, the dorm rascal, then dowsed the pigs in lighter-fluid, one by one, and lit them up, tossing them individually out his window in the directions of where the couples were ensconced. The flaming piglets would squeal all the way down, bounce once or twice, and roll off into the bushes to twitch to death, still squealing. At the screams of the girls and the howls of the boyfriends, Monty was cheering and donkey-laughing.

The next day, he was gone. We had had enough and told all, as did the infuriated boyfriends.

I always wondered what happened to that guy. It seemed to me, given the circa, that he would have been an ideal candidate for a tour-of-duty in Vietnam. Maybe he got one. Who knows.

And that's my tale about a real flamer.

Was probably recruited by the CIA and now a senior person in DHS.

Murph, immolating guinea pigs is pretty inhumane. I was thinking about Equus. When you get down to it, there's likely a reason, even where the individual is screwed up big time.

That makes some sense - using smell to mark. Surreptitiously contaminating the other's drinking water doesn't.

Yeah, when that happened, we were all aghast and pretty furious. He was suddenly not amusing anymore, and we figured we were not his therapists, and had no intention of being his audience any further. Somehow, we figured his odd behavior wasn't a problem with girls (the semi-target of his fiery living missiles) because he never had difficulty getting dates. I would compare him nowadays to looking like, and acting a bit like, Brad Pitt in Thelma & Louise, but with red hair. Quite a character. Always amusing, like a sideshow, but he had reached his limit with us.

On a more serious note Murph, animal cruelty on this scale is generally a precursor to more antisocial behavior. I hope the guy got some serious help before he morphed into a predator.

Which is why I stated he was probably recruited into the CIA and is now working for DHS..............
