Not really sure where this video should be posted, but since it shows unloading Buicks by hand back in the 20's, I thought this thread might be a good start. I've never seen anything like this and shows how early shipping of automobiles in freight cars was handled...very labor intensive.
There's also a special link for Rufus about 5 special Clown Cars.
Actually, it's a pretty neat website.

BH,
Nice film that looks to have been restored. Good to have it.
Do you know where it was filmed? Seems to be along the Hudson.

Human ingenuity is fascinating. There are so many clever nuances in the packaging and off-loading of the cars; nearly every turn and move had a fixture somebody figured out would be just-right to keep the cars safe and to move them without damage. Really interesting. I appreciated the quick shot at the start of the film of one of the early places to go to for gas, before they figured all that out, too.

Impressive that once upon a time we actually knew how to do stuff..............and that we did do it instead of just talking about it.

I think that whole era when America was making the change from an agrarian culture to an industry-based society was a time of great innovation, experimentation, and amazing results. We made the move from a society that walked everywhere or, at best, depended on horses for travel and power (I theorize that is why we refer to vehicles as having "horse power"), to a society that traveled by rail, air, and/or paved roads, which in the long run probably helped improve general hygiene and medical care as well. Right? Shipping and recreational boating changed was well.
So many of our advances were accomplished by guys tinkering in their sheds or workshops or laboratories. Names like Edison, Ford, Lister, Bell, and Frigidaire (Wales & Mellows) spring to mind, to say the very least.

James May has theorized that all great inventions are created in sheds or the equivalent thereof,

And just think of how much further along we would all be if women had been strongly encouraged and allowed to use their minds in creative endeavors, as well as the men. Madame Curie comes to mind. Imagine millions of times more of such involvement and mindset!
