Mmaaaaabeeee. Maybe not. I'm always up to something, though, huh, Roger. :D

P.S. It's on, here, right now, but I am finding the shrill whiny boy irritating and may not make it to the end. I'm beginning to wonder if his having a red balloon........ Oh never mind......

Today "we" seem to be able to give whatever meaning we want to anything.
In the early 1950s I had a college teacher that could give any poem a sexual meaning.

Autuman leaves.
I've noticed, in NJ, that many trees and shrubs are starting to drop their leaves, not after being colorful; rather, just withering and dropping off dried-out.
I wonder what gives them the clue to depart. The nights are not cold, not going below 67, for quite a while , now; the days are bright and sunny, in the upper 70's and more often in the 80's. So, plenty of light. Some rain. Is it the slightly (barely noticeable) shorter days, so far, that give them the clue?

We' had a little of that in the OKC area, but our temps dropped into the upper 50's a few weeks ago and I'm sure that triggered the leaf drop. Now, trees still look 100% green and since this has been a somewhat wet year, with more coming this week, we should have a colorful fall display. Our biggest problem with fall displays is the ratio of deciduous to cedar trees. East of OKC to the state line is much more deciduous, whereas west of OKC is primarily cedar and scrub. The line almost falls in the middle of the city. Really miss those KCMO falls and winters.

Murph,
You are describing the way tree leaves were in the upper Ohio Valley when I was a kid. They turned brown and dropped off.
Finding a leaf that was gold/yellow or very, very rarely red/orange was one that was taken to school and shared,
We were told that having mostly brown leaves was caused by pollution from the mills and mines. Can't use that anymore.
Time period was 1940s. I went to college in Kentucky in the mid 1950s and was amazed by the colors of the forests that
were not affected by pollution.

You're right. Now that you mention those days and places, It was the same for me in the Pittsburgh area. And yes, we used to do the same thing when we found a really good leaf, taking it to school. :D The most amazing leaves I ever saw were, as an adult, when I vacationed in Upstate NY, where the colors are usually blazing and a riot around this time of year.

Not too shabby a display in much of PA and then out to the Shenandoah...

I'm waiting for what seems like the optimum moment to plop myself in the bucket-o-bolts and go explore for the riot, Rufus.
