Hopefully we have a geosynchronous satellite with lots of sensors poised directly over North Korea. Hopefully it can detect the presence of a nuclear warhead and the heat signature of a launch. Hopefully we have a couple of large "intelligence gathering" aircraft loitering near North Korea. Hopefully those aircraft actually are equipped with the long distance laser weapons we have not been developing. Ideally a missile hit by those lasers shortly after launch would explode. The nuclear warhead wouldn't explode, getting one to go off requires more technical sophistication than a fuel explosion.

We can assume that a North Korean nuclear missile launch would consist of almost all of their stockpile. Fortunately we have the west coast based anti-missile missiles to intercept any that get through the first line of defense.

After that a strongly worded letter should convince Kim Jong Un to retire to a monastery.

An interesting idea, Roy, but doesn't the world have that idea already? We surely are not singular in that impression of him. But the core of your idea intrigues me = how can we intensify that negative impression of him as a very dangerous sissy-bich.

P.S. The military's hats are the clue to their mass-egotism. Li'l crowns. Tah tah , here I come; notice me! Adore me!!! So I figure the whole country is in lockstep , literally, with his egotism. And one wonders if there wouldn't , therefore, just be another ego-trippin mini-man to take his place quickly.

That would probably require blocking Russian flagged ships as well as other nations' ships. I know the US has done that in the past, but thinking that the UN will do that is probably unrealistic given that Russia sits on the Security Council and could probably veto this action - I'm surprised that the UN did anything at all!

I'm always surprised when they do anything. Kind of like a lot of people in this country who want to stand around and hold hands while singing kumbaya. Turning the other cheek just doesn't work in todays world. The really bad guys will just laugh and hit you some more. The UN really is pretty worthless in any meaningful way when it comes to violence from/in some countries.
