BP on the other hand is creeping up, most likely a function of burgeoning weight. Trying to get that under control now...

I am genetically blessed to have low cholesterol...intake seems to have no bearing. I could probably eat liver-and-mayo sandwiches for a week and the needle barely moves.

I stand by my caution. No matter the animal source, liver is bad for us. Cholesterol. And I beg you all to please consider what I have offered as advice.

My uncle Edward was stationed in Germany after WWII, he ate braunschweiger a lot and had me eating it too. Laid off it for a few decades and a couple of years ago tried it again, couldn't choke it down it was so rich.
After my wife passed away the doc told me I was a type2 diabetic.
I was keeping my blood sugar down around 100-110 until last year when I turned 65. When I saw her next it was around 135 and she said "Well, you're over 65 so that's not do bad".
Big mistake telling me that doc! Now I'm struggling to get it under 150!
I have started walking every morning and have lost weight but I'm not eating the right food to get back where I should be. The kids move into their new house next week and I hope to get to eating right then.
First time I've been under 200lbs all decade!!!

I eat it with fava beans and a bit of Chianti!
Sorry Healey, couldn't resist that one.

Key-rect!!!! I have it (liver and onions, that is) maybe once or twice a year. Enjoy it when I do, but a little goes a long way!

They have lots of medications that lower cholesterol if it becomes a problem. Always best to control it naturally, but some are predisposed and nothing but medication will work.
Funny thing about high BP. Many causes. Developed it in the mid 80's and went on the normal medications. Worked for decades until about three years ago. It went up and no matter what the doctor threw at me (really felt like sh*t from some of the medications) it would not control it. Then my wife looked at my last blood work report and saw my Aldosterone level was elevated to twice normal (shows normal range). She checked other blood work reports going back a few years and found the same thing.
So, she did some internet research (fantastic at it) and discovered I might have Conn Syndrome (production of too much aldosterone from the adrenal gland and no it doesn't mean I'm a conn man). Contacted my doctor who agreed and didn't know how he missed it (ya gotta read the reports doc) and sent me to an Endocrinologist in their system. She confirmed my wife's findings and prescribed two aldosterone blocking drugs and I'm off all the ever other medication for BP. Go figure.

And there are a few side-effects that are not well publicized (or even admitted to exist); unfortunately, I just happen to be prone to one of those side-effects that precludes my taking those medications.

Does anybody suppose or know if it's true that one of the few natural foods that can help remove cholesterol from our circulatory system is green bell peppers, or even the yellow, red, or orange-colored ones? Somewhere I heard that they helped, but that was several years ago , and I have forgotten the source.

Lots of lists but any actual reality//facts available. I see that whole eggs are on one list and for years they were touted as being terribly bad for high cholesterol.....seems what's bad is good and good is now bad, and if you wait a while it will flip again.
A good, balanced diet combined with some regular exercise would seem prudent and better for us.

To get any benefit from the anti-oxidant component(s) of red wine you better back a tank truck of it in your driveway.....and hook up a hose.
