Two out of several hundred. The Georgia public TV stations are junk also.

"Social Studies" are more important.

Is that true for you personally or an assessment of modern society or youth?

Not me. I believe the old adage that history repeats and if it is studied many of the same mistakes can be avoided.
Rephrased or paraphrased or some such thing.

(When do we get to see more photos of you gamboling about the desert? It's a picture of you and your dirt bike that helps keep me motivated to continue my 2mi early morning walks 3-4xs per week. For real.) :D Murph

I have switched to a road bike. I think you have seen it?

The image was taken at Silverbell Lake, Christopher Columbus Park.

I posted a video link of a ride to Silverbell Lake back on page 1711, remember:=> https://vimeo.com/193614525

I have been considering putting the camera on my dirt bike and filming rides up and down "Widow Maker Hill" and "Starr Pass." Both rides are scary enough they might make a good video. Maybe someday I will try. I'll let you know before, so when I never post again you can search for my obituary. "Widow Maker Hill claims another victim. This time a 75-year-old man... "

On second thought, maybe just film going down.

NOTE--Starr Pass is not misspelled, it is named after Richard Starr, who pioneered a stagecoach trail through the Tucson Mountains in 1883.

The stage stop out of Tucson was the ranch house of the Robles Ranch in Three Points. I was out there recently and had to use the old outhouse behind the ranch house. It has changed a lot since 1883. For one thing, the old wood structure has been replaced with a concrete block structure.

That is an interesting toilet paper dispenser. :D
That is similar to the ones that were used in Ohio
at the old roadside rest areas that were all over the state.

Yes, Roger, I remember them well, before they were flushable and just sat there staring up at us, basically a board with an anti-view. And the odor was deafening. Did you ever enter one on a hot Summer's day? Alas, memorable, after all these decades ! :(

Even after they were flushable they were no joy EXCEPT when you really needed one.
Ohio had a nice network of these spaced rather nicely. On I-95 in Georgia there is one reststop north bound when entering the state and two south bound.

Turning now to more urbane matters...... Hey, Wayne, Nice bike! That wayside spot for your leisure seems absolutely idyllic, right up my pedigree. Even at this distance, one can feel the peacefulness. Good for you - good find! Did you know that site was there or was it a discovery along one of your adventures? (I think you are getting me re-motivated to make a trip Upstate NY (Don't worry, Rufus, I am not going to get on that particular bleat again. ) to romp the forest. Maaaaaaaybeeeeee. :D

Yes, my wife and I discovered it on one of our bicycle rides, long time ago.

Because this is a desert environment, we do everything we can to conserve water. Water in the lake has come from the Tucson sewer system. The city treats the water then sends it to the Tucson Park System. In this case it goes to the Sweetwater Treatment Plant. Sweetwater treats the water again and sends it to various lakes and ponds and all the trees and foliage planted along the Santa Cruz River bicycle path. Water in lakes and ponds sinks underground, where it is stored for use later.

Does water actually run down the side of the fountain or is it painted on?
