.........as this is certainly not a "shake the box" kit! Seems to have potential. Anyone know more about these kits, curious...........are they the Challengers previously discussed here?

I can't wait for the responses.
I am enamored of the superbly rusted drivers. Wonder what the axles are like?
I would guess it's a fair deal is what several here will respond. Altho, scrap brass is probably less than the fifty opening bid.
"This locomotive does not run, it has no motor included. This locomotive is a kit and does not include its original box. This kit does not include couplerss. This locomotive is powered and is DC powered. It is not DCC ready and does not have a plug to accept a decoder. Kit includes most major parts of the locomotive. Notably missing are the motor, the tender body and frame, and most of the rods and linkages. "
Does not run. But is it powered and DC powered. No tender fame or body. Most of the rods and linkages gone.
I think it's one helluva deal.
I do like the gearbox.
Hey Burner, you need this...you can throw it together in what, a week?

No couplers!
Wait...it's powered and it's DC powered, but the motor is missing........along with a lot of other stuff.
It'll sell to someone......and it'll all be on a table at a meet in a few years selling out someone's estate.....

Re: Not for the faint of heart............
A month. I have rods, and unless drivers are pitted it is restorable. Usually tender sides are dented anyway, and I have spare tender parts.
I would buy it at its current price of $115 or so, but suspect bidding will soon exceed anything I would offer. I will watch it. I do not need a sixth Jabelmann Challenger.
