Louis Bartig Collection Sold

Found out today that Jim Cantner purchased the entire Louis Bartig collection on locomotives. Don't know the final price but they were asking between $4000 and $8000 per unit. I think there were 18 to 20 locomotives. As far as I knew he never sold one not even to Mike Hill :mrgreen:

How many of Bartig's models were P48 - thought Canter was a P48 guy....

Pretty sure that is correct. I suppose if you can swing buying 80 or so models with a low end price of 4K, making them P48 probably ain't a big deal! :shock: :lol:

Makes you wonder how few ever understand the concepts of "enough" and/or "too much"?

A talented man. I bet very few people with his skill level would be building model locomotives. Nevertheless every once in a while such a talent makes an appearance, much to our delight. We don't hear much about Tom Mix...he is in that league as well.

This article is so cool! I've made brass spoked wheels for a 1914 Model T Runabout in 1:64 scale, and at some point I'm going to make some engine drivers. I'm also not a professional machinist, and I still have my Unimat SL.
