To me, that contraption (there's a word you don't see too often nowadays) is testimony to the adventuresome spirit men have in them. We'll put life-and-limb on-the-line (here, literally) to go fast and have a thrill. Riding is good , too, even if it damages our spines irreparably. Nice.

(And talk about "striking a pose," some of those characters be strikin', all right. )

P.S. I used to ride my Suzuki up ski slopes during the summer months, and sometimes rode my Honda directly into the sea, sometimes hurling myself riding it, off sand dunes and headlong into the Atlantic. What-the-hey, I never even got injured, but figured I'd heal-up fast as a 20-something nutcase if I ever did get hurt.

Life. I've been doing it my way, like those dudes on that RR-contraption-thingy. :D

P.P.S. O' course, I think this kind of activity takes guts and an adventuresome spirit, as well.

That was fun, Rufus, Thanks. I haven't watched the whole 24+min. yet, but did jump ahead to 10:03 and 18:30 and enjoyed those parts of Buster Keaton's adventure on his contraption. I'll allow myself further little doses of that video over the next few days, to savor it.

The documentary on the filming of it is far more interesting and very much worth tracking down and watching.

Innocuous and harmless in the minds of the adults that sanctioned and profited from it while the adult humor stayed in clubs and away from cameras and recorders.

The advent of the smart phone with everything recorded and on-line seconds later.......

Yes, indeed. Is there anything that has not come out of the closets, backrooms, and backyard sheds, etc. and onto desktops everywhere? I can't even imagine the evolution of it all five years from this moment.

If what was once considered a perversion or secret becomes commonplace, is that relaxation a good thing? I am reminded of the expression, Puritanism - the haunting fear that someone, somewhere, may be happy. After all, women are not being burned-at-the-stake any further for wearing a colored ribbon or whistling. (Think: the Scarlet Letter groupies.)

And I have not the slightest concept about whether all that self-liberation is a healthy thing or not; perhaps, more freedom = less psychosis? I wouldn't even venture an opinion on that suggestion; I leave that to my betters.

It's probably healthy overall, but I suspect that the overwhelming majority of humanity is far from ready........firmly entrenched in a mind set that's 60 or more years (160....) past. This is why change is so difficult; most are looking back instead of forward, or even around themselves right now.

I figured if anyone knew about the Empire Goods Motorcycle, Wayne would!
I'd jump at the chance for a trip across Canada like that!! But only if I can bring my Colt Walker for grizzlies! Here's a few more contraptions!
