If are patient you get one for maybe $20 less. If you're impatient, you could probably build one for $20,

I don't get the modernize comment; all I see is paint to remove and work that I don't need to do with a high price tag attached to it, for cars that I don't need.

LOL! I saw the price on the box, $18.75 and thought "Wish I had Mr. Peabody's Wayback machine!!!":

And note that the box mentions "3 pr spare trucks"...were they included as
part of the $18.75, or was the notation added by the buyer as a note on where
they stored the trucks? Somewhere along the line, they parted company with the car.

Anyway, $18.75 is a good price for one of those models today...but if you use
the Wayback machine to go back to that time/place, does your cash also revert to
the prevailing value of back then (factoring all the inflation back out)? If so, that
may negate the price advantage....

From what I read, they are as built. From the seller, Jerry Snow: Some modelers felt they did not follow any railroad, 'BUT' if you want a small passenger car in brass this is it.

So the "Dimwit" would have to be the importer or builder.

They look like they were pretty nicely done to me......are they correct to a prototype? Quien sabe!

OK, none of you saw what I did so maybe I'm wrong. It appeared to me that someone bent the brake wheels to a vertical position (like a freight car) instead of horizontal like they should be. I did notice a few were horizontal but all the ones I see in their new position are in exactly the same vertical position which I doubt was done in packing/shipping (these brake staffs and wheels are always bent a "little bit", but not all the way and so perfectly.

I just thought it was interesting and passed it on. I have a set of these painted and they are a very nice generic "old time" coach with full interiors.

I did not pay that much for them.

Oh, I guess I'm just so relieved to see that there are brake wheels attached that I don't notice their position; all too often I'm straightening or just replacing them so their being out of position is something I just gloss over,
