Watching this video is just a joke. The guy doing the talking and handling the models is just an idiot he needs to be wearing white
gloves an not rolling the models on the particle board surface.

Watch for heavy boxes set on top of open models on the selves. Real classy.

All I can say is buyer beware, and remember the 20% buyers premium tacked on.

I have a question...how would an auction site even start to offer something for bid if they didn't open and inspect the merchandise???

I agree about his handling of the items though. I know how much my Williams brass N&W J weighs and I wouldn't dare pick it up with one hand, especially while holding an Iphone in the other

I tried to view the video and all I got was a page requesting that I either log in to, or create, a Facebook Account.
I agree with Martin about Facebook, so the video remains unwatched by my eyes.....

Have dealt with that auction house in the past, but I never really got anything with visible signs of mishandling...
was I maybe just lucky??

I do not believe it is often that Stout gets a 2 rail scale brass collection especially of this size, the last very large collection last year was Mr Gibsons that he sold privately, two large dealers took the bulk of it from what I read. Obviously the individual making the video was not familiar with handling high end brass models, I suspect very few bidders will see this video and inspect that carefully the models they are bidding on. Will be interesting to see how much the entire collection brings. JMO

At the end of the day it really doesn't matter to me. I'm not buying much of anything, there's very little that could begin to entice me to crack open my wallet anymore, and if anything at all, I'm selling off all the stuff that I can trim away from myself.

In sum, I don't need another shiny thing......

Something that came to my mind and bothers me about any absentee bidder. Jim had a pretty good size (actually huge) layout, so which of these models might be new in the box and which were run. Does Stout make any reference to wheel wear or whether something is used or new? Lot's of nice models, but one would have to be very careful when bidding.

Not being a facebook member (and never will be) I was surprised I could view the video. Only watched a couple of minutes, but I noticed a Wasatch UP dome car on the top shelf of one rack and obviously the KEY UP E7 the fellow grabbed by one hand and put on the table. If someone follows this auction, I would sure like to know what those models brought at the end of the day. For me, that's a good guide if this was a buyers auction or just another auction that you might save you a small percentage. Having never attended any of these national auctions on line or in person I'm just curious.

I deal with auctioneers on a weekly basis. They are a step below politicians. 90% of them don't know what their selling or care to know. All they want is 30% off of someone else's inventory. Most auction houses wont ship or pack an item.They have a ups store do it or a guy like me if that item is large.
