Does pose a bit of a head scratcher, but then I also know that now and again there are crack downs on homeless and those that apparently trying to help the less fortunate get caught up in that action.
As we all have all to often heard, no good deed goes unpunished - maybe that in itself is yet another sign of the looming fall & decline....

Many years ago, on the way to the creek to wet a line, I was negotiating passage through an electrified barbwire fence w/o any insulated portion to spread the wire a bit.
I made it 50% through and caught a barb in the back of my head which led to other "interactions" and "intersections".... and then after getting up off my back on the inside of the field I discovered the bull off in the distance.....
My grandfather for some reason found this liking to his amusement.

Might have set the land speed record for running in waders while carrying a fishing pole!

Why? A bull in the distance is harmless. A bull's comfort zone is with you at least 20 feet away.

Then, I must have come across some mighty snotty bulls, one in particular, which seemed real attentive and challenging that I was even near his fence , at the opposite side of the area he was ruling. Maybe I over-did the after-shave that day and he was down-wind of me?

Probably was just hoping you had some corn for him Murph. By the way, don't pet a bull on the head, that is taken as a challenge that you want a pushing contest to see who is stronger. Instead, stroke under the chin as an appeasement, taming, grooming like behavior. That is the way cattle

This might surprise you, but there are aggressive animals in the world that when they notice an interloper take invasion of their space badly. And he had the field all to himself.
When he's running flat out towards you, you generally don't stand around leisurely measuring a 20' radius. I suspect that my intersection with the fence might have piqued his curiosity as well.

Well, I'm glad he told me about not petting a bull on the head, which was actually my intention that day. In fact, I am soon going to be on my way back to that pasture, and will opt for the chin, if I discover I have the you-know-whats for that move .
Anybody have any theories on bison? I'll be visiting their pasture soon, too, in that same general neighborhood, which, by the way, I have heard has a population of wild European boar running freely in the forest I explore. Yes, Wayne , the same one with the coyotes and Black Bear.
