Gas stations hiked the price of gas 8 cents a gallon today. There was a line of cars waiting to fill up. today the weather lady used a new term. European forecasters. Why the heck would they care about our weather. Accuweather does $82 million in sales a year. I guess my local station wont pay Accuweather fees so the buy from a Gypsy in Romania.

Ruf - hoping you missed the fun on 66 last night...I understand it had a nice glaze on it by the evening rush. Doesn't bode well for Friday evening.

I actually commute further south than 66 in VA, and I was home well before that little snow started.
Apparently it's a total mess at the Wilson Bridge with 1/4" of ice on the hill in MD.
Never seen as many time limited trucks parked along side the Beltway in MD on the way in this morning either. Apparently MD didn't bother to treat the roads.........
I have to wonder whether I'll even come in to the office tomorrow.

Last time we had that kind of accumulation, I had to go out 2-3 times during the storm with the Toro since much over 8-10" is too much to reasonably clear. Every 4" works good and fast.

Noticed that increase for here, too.

This pending storm has plopped a big conundrum in my reality. So, I have been following this conversation with considerable interest.
This Saturday, after the 5 o'clock Mass, our parish, in Northern New Jersey, just north of Rt.81, is having an old fashioned church supper. We've sold 200 tickets, and I am on every committee making it happen: set-up; food; decorations; raffle table organization & display; clean-up. We don't know if we will be facing an inch of snow or a foot, guess-judging from the myriad TV news reports blabbing at us. We really don't know what to do or say, esp. when called and asked if the dinner is still on, other than to assure folks it is. Yet, we wonder what is coming our way.
At a meeting tonight, one fellow mentioned that if there were a hefty snow fall, then the streets would need plowing, and the signs forbidding parking on them would have to be obeyed. Our parking lot/playground could never hold even 100 cars. No way. Where would everybody, after braving a prospective storm, PARK!? We wonder further.
My SUV is loaded, stem to stern, floor to ceiling, every seat but mine (the wife will have to go in her car). with the raffle items. I'll be at the hall by 3pm Saturday beginning my adventure at it all, setting up the raffle table; food preparation, which includes receiving cooked dishes donated by nearby restaurants, will have commenced by 1Pm. Will the snow get worse as the dinner proceeds? We wonder. Will it be a disaster even before we get started? WHO KNOWS? Not I.
Just in case it is too slippery or the snow too deep to walk well from my car to the hall to deliver all the paraphernalia I need, I have actually included a fold-up red canvas-and-metal WAGON
within my cargo to ferry the stuff up to the hall. Sheesh! 
Oivey. I will look like an old fool. Oh well, so what.
Wish me luck (my wife and I are already praying for help.)
