Updated 4/8/2015:

I am ecstatic to report my cataract surgery (left eye) went very well on Monday. Yesterday, they bandages were removed and I am seeing very well (expected to get better). The Lord Jesus Christ really watched over me. I am using my reading glasses, but otherwise nada!

Woohoo!!!!!!!! :D

And just in time for York!

My mother had an implant and when I brought her back from the doctor's after the bandage removal I took her out to a local Chinese restaurant. The waitress handed us the menus and Mother's was upside down; before I could even say anything, she right sided it. "Give me a moment to see what I want and then I will read out the selections." "No bother, I will have the #29 Subgum Chicken." :o ?????? Before that she could read the newspaper headlines and that was about it.

Well, more accurately, the eye was covered with a gauze bandage and protective shield for 1 day. The doc removed it Tuesday morning.

Not even that for me.
My aunt had that 20 years ago.
60+ years ago my grand father was in the hospital for four days
with sand bags on each side of his head so he wouldn't move it.

Big changes these days.

I think I can see pretty well.

And, it's nearly playoff time!

I would want to get a real up-close look at that group.

The Ball-and-Chain just had her eyes done. With install of upgraded lenses she no longer needs glasses...first time in her life she hasn't needed those. The technology is getting scary-good...

Me, too. I asked the surgeon about the X-Ray version of the lenses, but he said that was reserved for Superman.

It's probably a mixed blessing.

Healey - I understand your wife's reaction. I've been wearing glasses for 52 years (since 2nd grade).

Updated 4/19/2015:
  • Attended the Strasburg O-Scale Show on Saturday. Said "hi" to Rufus. BTW, I confirmed that I do own that number of PRR N6b.
  • Last week I started to cut lumber for additional ribs for the river bottom module. This module will hold the river bottom, the bridge piers, and the end piers and hillsides for the bridge. At the very rear, it will support the backdrop. Murphy's Law raised its ugly head: the miter saw blade needed to be replaced.
  • On Saturday, I found an inexpensive, better replacement (180 tooth / $12) at Lowe's.
  • On Sunday, I cut both additional ribs and started screwing them into place. The existing ribs will be moved about 0.75" to help support the bridge piers. I drilled holes for wiring in all the ribs.
  • Got my shopping list ready for York. Will attend a bandit meet for the first time on Tuesday.

I am going to swing by York on Friday morning, maybe hang out for three or four hours or so. Nothing on the want/need list, so most likely just a good walk spoiled.

Good hunting...

Was good to see you there, George! And, a good number of other MTJ members attending. Always good to see and talk to folks stopping by the OST table/display and at my own table.

Well, I guess that N6b along with the other PRR cabin cars go on eBay next Sunday then - had the N6b listed for sale here and on OGR w/o a nibble....

Updated 4/25/2015:

If the Fall 2014 York was a grand slam for me (with the PRR Panhandle bridge acquisition), this one was a 3-run homer.
  • K-Line 18" PRR Spirit of St. Louis 4-car passenger set
  • Williams PRR B6sb (about to get TMCC / Sound / and F/R electrocouplers)
  • 2 Weaver PRR B60b baggage cars
  • 1 MTH R50b refer express car
  • 2 MTH N6b cabin cars
  • 1 Weaver TTX/REA TTOFC
  • 1 MTH Hot Metal Car
  • Some figures, detail parts, misc. pieces

I really didn't intend to spend that much.

I also launched a small venture to provide BIG bridge shoes (kits).
