Cut a FRESH balsam fir twig. Bring it inside. Light a match or a candle. Stick flame under twig. If it burns at all (besides glowing a slight bit), I'll send you a print of your choice. It's about as likely as a train exiting this portal.

Nice looking though, eh? I can almost hear the train coming. But trust me, it will be a VERY long wait.

On my new Chromebook I picked it up from Best Buy last Fri. and a geek squad guy was very helpful getting me going on it. I couldn't remember my email password so he said come back but he wouldn't be there. Sat. another guy was a complete jerk with my new computer I had just bought from them. Refused to help me at all even though what I needed would probably only take 5 minutes. For him to do anything I had to buy their Geek Squad for 3 years at nearly the cost of my Chromebook.
So upon conferring with friends I have high hopes I can get it going tomorrow when I have time to play with it. I'm typing on my old computer.
I'll never never buy anything from Best Buy again but the thought has occurred to me if I had bought from Walmart or Amazon I'd really be in trouble as the 1st guy did help me a lot.
If I have further difficulty I'm going back to Best Buy and hope the second guy isn't there.
I did think of returning it but I want it and I am set up with a Goggle account (required) on it thanks to the 1st guy.

Tramp,

Fantastic portal.

You have not said that it is one of your
paintings or drawings but have inferred that.

I would not have guessed that at all.

Good point. Painting? Model? If that's a model, that's some good photography. If that's a painting, it's a d*mn good painting.

To win that print, does the balsam twig need to be alive, or can it be a dead one??

The portal is a photograph with my new camera of an HO model diorama I built in the 70s. The track was hand-laid ties with spiked Code 70 rail. Looks like Brennan's ballast, but this is a different scale.

Rich, this video shows the bridge still in use around 1992: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mp8ssOy4F2k

Look 2/3 into the film. The bridge seems to be standing now, but tracks are long gone. Just Google "Fisher Bridge Vermont."

Tramp, A very interesting structure, and a testimonial to it's builders that it has lasted this long. I don't recall ever seeing anything railroad related like it in my neck of the woods (S. Central PA).

Once upon a time there were a multitude of covered bridges on rural roads, but sadly, most have been lost to arsonists. Thanks for the additional info.!

Learning to play a concert flute?
Tuning a piano?
Cello, what was the cello guy doing?
Why were they all wearing masks? The description below the video gave away their names!

Thank you Rufus, but I think I will go back to "Concert at the Railway Station."
http://youtu.be/1NZpPg_9N90
In the above, Valentina Lisitsa, after finding an out-of-tune piano at St Pancras Station, London, gives the piano a heart attack playing Totentanz - The Raging Dance of Death by Liszt on it. May the dead whales rest in peace.

Edit 1: Added Lisista.
Edit 2: Corrected spelling of Lisitsa.
Edit 3: Added note for edit 1 which I did not include while adding Lisitsa link because I had no clue Rufus was responding during the edit. After adding Listsa and posting I saw I had an "Edit 1." So, here I am, back illuminating my edits. Not that anyone cares what the edits are, just an old habit that still amuses me.
