Fellow forumites, I have become aware of a dangerous situation, and wanted to give you all fair warning.

Having peanut butter and marshmallow in the household at the same time may lead your adolescents to try to put these two compounds on pieces of bread at the same time. The Surgeon General has determined that this may lead to stupidity, as the resultant fumes seem to induce same kids to put this abhorrent mixture into their mouths.

So be warned... this abomination may lead to extreme nausea in bystanding witnesses.

Too late...the peanut-butter/marshmallow eaters in this house have departed (now 25 and 22 years old). They have stumbled into nuclear engineering and middle school education...I had been wondering where that came from.

I told you guys about the peanut butter and marshmallow debacle.
Well, I left the same message, as a PSA (public service announcement) on a dry-erase board on our kitchen counter, intended for my progeny, about the dangers of indiscriminate mixing of common household compounds (bleach and ammonia also comes to mind), and I come home last night at midnight to find THIS....

We've had a mild summer but its hot now. Sat. 103 Sun. 106 Mon. 106. Its always hot the first two weeks of September and often the whole month. Then its often quite nice clear till Christmas. Thats why so many people move here. LA County is over 10 million now, thats the county. Highest population county in the nation.
So the goverment here figures it can tax and regulate business here and the business will stay, its getting so business don't stay or come here anymore but the goverment is blind to that or just don't care. They don't realize that business supports the social programs that they all want so they get reelected.
I go to my big church Sat. at 5:00 and another big church Sun at 8:30. Today I left early to go to a modular HO model railroad club set up in a air conditioned park building. This is the 3rd year I've seen it and its worth driving 15 minutes each way extra.
Mostly nicely sceniced, one guy had made some Joshua trees, there hard to model, his weren't real good but not bad either.
A lot of steam running and they all had sound. Their steam is no comparison to ours. Autos too, their cars are little tiny things a lot less than half of 1:43.

Poor immigrant workers compete with even poorer new immigrant workers in Calif. construction trades.
LA city and Calif. state are santuary city and state. All my life unions had total control of all construction jobs. A union construction job was a sure ticket to be solidly middle class. A decade or two ago cheap immigrant labor begain to break the unions back.
1 in 6 construction workers are off the books now. Calif lost out on $473 million in 2011 because of illegal construction work.
In drywall and flooring a quarter of laborers are illegal.
Construction in Calif. is a $152 billion industry and illegal employment has surged 400% since 1972.
Since the recent recession only 2/3rds of the legal construction jobs that disappeared have since returned.

The Los Angeles County Fair is on and in the fairgrounds is a year round G gauge garden railroad. One of the oldest and largest 3,000 sq. ft. they can run 40 trains at once. During the fair it takes 12 people to run. Some of the members schedule their vacations for during the fair time so they can be there every day.
12,000 gallons of recycled water fills it lakes, rivers and streams.
Two years ago 65,000 people viewed the layout.
LA Daily News had a big article on the trains and is where I got this information.

The 3 ft. law goes into effect here today, that where you have to leave 3 ft. between your car and a bicyclist as you pass him.
Our idiot goverment has spent probably millions painting bicycle lanes all over the place that take away lanes for cars which is what everybody uses. Also provides a way for police to give you a ticket if you don't cross the bicycle lane in just the right spot and the obvious real intent is more money for the city.
Politicians here want people to ride bicycles for less traffic while ignoring the obvious that nearly no one rides bicycles especially to work or errands. So we now have all these lanes all over the place and probably a fraction of 1% of drivers use them. Plus cars pay for the roads with our highest in the nation gas tax, they should make bicycles pay for the roads too.

Given that bicyclists are regulated by the same laws as motorists, I'm fully in favor of them being registered, inspected, licensed, and ticketed just like motor vehicles.
