6 ROOMS!
It'll be a half hour and three beers later before the thing finishes a lap!

I'd vote to put 'er up now, let Ms. D take pictures and post them, and leave it up until after Christmas.
'Bout time you shared that thing with the world.

Any hobos around tonight? Rain continues. Snow reported inland.

Watching the White Sox.

Rained all day, whipping wind, still raining.

Coal truck came today, helped him run 3 tons of nut coal into my outdoor bin, out of Blaschak Coal Co., Mahanoy City. "Clean Dependable Anthracite".
The weighmaster's bill gave me an allowance of 180 lbs. for water, because of the rain, so I got a square deal.
I was saturated to the skin by the time we finished. Came in, shucked my wet clothes for dry, had a hot cup of joe, and got right with the world.

But now I have my entire winter's heat in a box by the treeline. Let God unleash the white fury. I'm ready.

Working my half-basement into a train room. Pulled all the insulation down, it being formerly mouse-infested. Installed and wired-in some baseboard heat so I don't have to give the mice their lair back. I had some new Springsteen on the box, and was painting the floor joists and subflooring flat black, and it's working great to make that stuff disappear, because it's only a 7 foot ceiling. Had the house to myself, so I got to crank the music. Good day.
But "Damn!" if I didn't see a gd mouse on some cinder block while I was painting. Got my son's BB gun, and lay in wait. Plugged it dead with my first shot. Great White Hunter.

About a train room...somebody tell me I can do this.

Pete, a few photos please. Cats? Where are your cats?

Wind is lashing the windows like all lost love. Crazy night for weather.

I wish I had my wood in like you have your coal in. Gog, might have to plant the Chevy for the winter. How sad.

Two beauties of coal- no creosote, and three tons takes up the space of one cord of wood.

My two siamese's died within two months of each other last winter, the first of kidney failure, the second of a broken heart. But neither of them could have caught a one-legged mouse on crutches. I guess it was 'beneath' them.
Got a new cat, took him in as a stray kitten. He's an adolescent now, and he's a good cat, but he's a good mouser. Trouble is, he's been de-clawed, (very absolutely quite unlike the redhead), so he's at a disadvantage. The other problem is that, this being a split-level, the builder's never put in an access into the attic of either roof. I cut one in a closet on the upper floor, but the other roof is over the kitchen/dining/living rooms. I have no way to get at the little m-er f-ers. And it's unbelievable what they can squeeze into. And we live smack in the middle of 20 acres of fields, which means there's an inexhaustable supply. What's a poor hobo to do? Will mouse-poison kill them without creating a stench? I've been afraid of trying that.

Maybe I need one of your Maine bobcats.

So, Tramp, are your MOW men laying down the track?

Pete, I can sympathise with the mouse problem. I had one that was leaving me presents in the silverware drawer and on the dishes. Tried traps and poision. Little b#$%^d was too smart for that. I got a couple of the Combat mouse stickum traps. Got the little beggar within a few hours. Nice thing is, you just close the thing up and out into the trash bin with the little varmit. As well as it worked, I'll not waste time with any of the other methods again.

Jon, where you at in the great sunshine state? If you're in the Jacksonville area, that may have been you buzzing around my head all day.

Capt, I never tried that, but I sure as hell will. I watched that one in the basement step-up onto a spring-trap, give the cheese a sniff, and continue on his way. Maybe he was offended that I didn't use a good enough cheese.
It was then that I grabbed the BB gun and camouflage, and set-up the blind. Dropped that SOB as fast as Dennis hit that barroom floor when he tried to out-drink Tramp. I wanted to get my picture taken holding it up by it's dead ears, maybe submit it to the local paper, and hang my picture all over the attic.
I now regret flushing it. I should have had it stuffed and mounted, and hung it over the mantle. Show the rest of those little bastards who's the bull-goose-loony around these parts.

Thanks for the good word.

Pete,

I forget the name of it, but there are these bait traps out there with little green pellets in them.

The concept is that a rodent eats it, gets thirsty as hell, and heads outside to get a drink. It's supposed to die outside as a result of eating the pellets.

Don't know if it really works, but it is an interesting concept.
