Yes, find it hilarious that the green movement is not very well thought out.

So, what kind of tree is it after all?

Have not found an elderberry match yet.

I go with the Bonnergantor because 1) he is a tree expert and 2) so many cherry and hackberry trees have close to the mystery tree's leaflet pattern.

Something tells me, "some kind of cherry" is as close as we can get with internet searching. We need a fruit tree expert to weigh in. I am sure there is someone who knows as much about cherry trees as some of us (not me) know about model trains.

Tony Aiello of Morris Arboretum in Philadelphia is a cherry tree expert.

An example of Aiello's expertise... Brooklyn Botanic Garden (BBG) has four
cherry trees, all purchased from the same nursery, and labeled, "Prunus
subhirtella ‘Pendula’" The experts at BBG were certain they were all four
the same tree. Along comes Aiello and points out to the BBG experts that
one of the tree's flowers has a double layer of petals, indication it is
a completely different cherry tree from the others. Aiello identified the
tree as Prunus pendula ‘Yae-Beni-Shidare’.

Had an inch of water come down yesterday, leading to a summer twilight that never smelled so sweet.

Enough dampness to coax our occasional visitor, Reginald, out of wherever he goes to lurk during drier times.

Image

One can tell, by Reginald's bulk, that he has been around awhile.
One can also tell, by Reggie's eyeball, that the picture was taken at sunset!

Doc Wayne, How are you coping with the heat out there? We are hearing about it on the news, now. How is the cat enduring it? If I recall, you do not have traditional air conditioning; how's your system holding up?
