Par boiled?

Poached?

Prepared with pomegranates & pineapples over pasta with a piping hot serving of fresh squeezed cat juice?

That is true for some cats, Cat-From-Hell being a purrfect example. When the dog next door barks at me, CFH approaches the chain link fence, back arched, fur standing up, and stares the dog down. I have witnessed CFH chasing stray dogs out of the yard. I wonder what will happen when she meets a dog too dumb to run.

Rufus likes cats. However, lots of people, especially men by my observation, prefer an obedient dog to an independent cat.

Unlike a dog, I can't take CFH with me on trips because she will not leave the property. To take her to the veterinarian I have to put her in an animal carrier and then she complains all the way over and all the way back. Yeeeeooooooowww!

Once at the Vet. she has to be pulled, kicking and fighting, out of the carrier. The Vet. has me hold her by the nape of the neck to keep her from biting him. He has no problem examining her teeth, she keeps them bared the whole time. When I let go, CFH slinks back into the carrier and starts up again. Yeeeeeoooooowww! I think that means, "Take me hoooooome!"

Not all cats are like that. Nerd Cat loved riding in cars. Nerd Cat purred so loud at the Vet's that he could not listen to the cat's heart beat.

When I lived in Los Angeles I had friends who kept cats on their boats. These cats thought nothing of sailing in rough waters.

The gray in the first picture is a "one-person" cat. At home, she hits my lap in the library purring away, tolerates the wife and son decently.

At the vet, she gets hauled from the box with a pair of welding gloves or a horse-blanket. She's just like any feral cat fresh from the alley. Someone will bleed and it isn't going to be her. I'm constantly impressed at how powerful a cat really is.

She is living proof that squirrels can successfully mate with wolverines...

1st off - no one owns a cat; they own you if they choose to do so and they determine at what level they will own you.

We had 3 cats at my parent's: a short hair declawed black house cat that rarely left the house excpet to hunt and quickly return that we bought; an exceptionally nasty dispositionally inclined grey scarred & missing most of an ear that guaranteed your loss of blood for even trying to pet, let alone pick up - never came in the house, stalked squirrels and caught them frequently - it moved into our yard and tolerated us; one of the largest yellow tiger striped cats that I have even seen that moved into the yard, stalked and killed rabbits, and would come in the house that decided that I was its person and no one else's as my wife to be found out the hard way.

We also had a short legged beagle that was a total PITA - had an Irish Setter brain.

We have no cats now......or dogs.......but I did look into getting a breeding pair of monitor lizards once,

Some cats are "over eaters." Nerd Cat eventually reached 15 pounds. It did not do any good to withhold food because it was an indoor/outdoor cat. After eating a bowl of food inside, it would go out and catch anything that moved and eat it. My wife tried to put it on a diet. One day she called me at work, angry as can be. Nerd Cat had jumped, all 15 pounds of him, straight up from the ground to the roof ( a distance of 8 feet) and caught a bird on the roof. Cats are indeed incredibly strong.

We watched the big yellow one day very casually strolling across the yard carrying a full grown and still very alive & kicking rabbit in its mouth that apparently was no strain to it at all - the cat paused, stared us down - "I caught it & it's mine" - and walked off with its prize.

When it wanted out, it just grabbed a bit of my beard and pulled.....at 6 am that gets old fast,

OUCH!!!!

Right now we are slaves to two cats, both were strays.

Boots was found by the daughter in law, being abused by several neighborhood boys who had already broken his nose, and smashed out his upper fangs. (Had I caught the little assholes, they may have shared the same fate) and broken the tip of his tail, which he later lost. He has claimed me as his sole toy, food, and heat supplier, my life revolves around his whims.

Gir is the daughters. He was an unintentional guest in the Garage of Doom, at the time we thought he was gray. Wrong. A mix between Siberian Tiger and Persian, Gir is the very definition of Chaotic Evil. He will knock over filled glasses, coffee cups, candle holders (thankfully unlit) and other noisy items just to hear 'em crash! He also takes on JJ, a labretard/chow mix, that weighs in at 110 pounds, and is all pussy.
