Those damn bird kites took much modification before they'd fly. On Saturday I figured it was the many beers and etceteras that made the instructions indecipherable. But on Sunday morning I knew the truth. Damn things were designed by toads. And not being a toad . . .

...we had made an unfortunate choice by checking into an out of the way inn where the desk clerk, Norman, eyed our kites with suspicion...

Actually the motel was Jimmo's. (This in Vermont. View of Lake Champlain and the pale-blue Adirondacks.) Place stands alone as the ultimate motel in decline, last legs, end of the line, broken, beat, no heartbeat that I could detect unless you counted the duct tape holding in the air conditioner that dreamed cold but blew hot wind. The cleaning ladies, bent over like drenched willows, staggering under the weight of their vacuums and pails, were about the most touching thing I've ever seen. One had a massive sole on one shoe. We insisted that Jimmo (the single most failed body ever, so bad that you could not keep looking at him) turn on the lights for the outside suffleboard. After that he had the equipment ready for us ever morning. We played suffleboard and drank the FRESH Labatt 50 ales I'd preordered at Marty's First Stop in Dansville, VT. Loaded the 4 cases as Marty watched, amazed that my cooler matched, at the 66 Chevy in its faded original paint. (19.95 a case!)

Sounds like makings of a short story. "The Last Customers".

Places like Jimmo's are falling to the Red Roofs and Sheratons. The 'Wal-Mart Syndrome'. Pity.

Bet Jimmo and the ladies are STILL talking about you two.
Most excitement they've had in years!

More, more!

Hobos,

Pope Jon is asking for beer donations.

Image

That Mitre Pope Jon is wearing looks strangely like the Mitre of Dagon the Fish God. I wager a beer and fish fry fund raiser is in the works.

LOL, Wayne!! Now we know how the term "mullet-head" came about. I hope that's not his summer outfit.(although his purse is a nice touch) Whew!! I'll have to talk to the Knights of Columbus about doing the fish fry thing, they're more of a beer and barbeque type around here!!
Sincerely, Pope mullet-head Jon

Looks dangerous San. I think I will try hopping the train ride when the engineer is not balling the jack.

continuing...

Once Norman was convinced that that our bird kites were really kites that would not fly, he warmed up to us and offered cans of V-8, explaining that 50 goes well as a red eye with V-8. "Should help you get over the kites." Norman offered.

OHHH NO. I remember in my youth I took a date into the City and had dinner at Luchows. I ordered the Welch Rabbit. I had to call the damn waiter back to ask him where the damn rabbit was in this pile of cheese and bread. He could'nt talk english very well so the manager had to come to his aid.I think they got a little nervous and gave my date and I a free bottle of wine. Satisfied, I ate my rabbitless cheese. :D The End. No shit. It's true.

I've taken over his hair. You have NO idea how sexy it looks a tad longish (as is no crew). Talk about free bottle of wine. Talk about rabbitless cheese. Talk about Coq au vin.

I suggest you all let it loose just a tad, just for the summer, just for her.

ps. 5 months till trains start running through the house up here. I've never actually seen them running anywhere before.
