In about a month I will be 76 years old.

Don't call me young,I worked hard to get this old.

I think I still think like I am fiftyish but I feel like I am eightyish.

Happy birthday to all.

Harvest
(Agnes Kendrick Gray)

Only the seasons and the years invade
These quiet wheatfields where the armies crashed,
And mockingbirds and quail fly unafraid
Within the forest where the rifles flashed....

Long are the wars years over, with their pain
Their passionate tears and fury, and the sun
Lies hot and yellow on the heavy grain,
And all the fighting on these fields is done.

But in their peace, the quivering heart recalls
The youth that bled beside these old stone walls.

~~~~~~~~~~~
Happy Memorial Day, gentlemen, and to the soldiers and veterans... Thanks.
Dirt,
Nice choice.
That I am not a veteran is the one real regret in my life.
Speaking of beer, if anyone has some rib smoking going on this holiday, give this sauce mix a spin!
1 bottle of A-1 Sauce Bold And Spicy mixed in a bowl with 16 ounces of light brown sugar. Slather it on the ribs while smoking. :D
Cheers!
Tramp,
Brings back memories of many trips up to Essex County, Mass. for the week before Memorial Day. Many a splendid Spring day was spent there with good friends. I never managed to get past Portland on my few excursions into Maine, but I can imagine Down East is something to behold in the Spring time!
Happy Memorial Day to You and Daisy!
I'm going to give myself to the small things as much as I can.
Ah... the secret to happiness.
Jon,
Thanks for the recipe, but I have a 2" thick Delmonico that is going to to meet the heat today, and all it is going to see is a large amount of black pepper! I am not into that kind of sauce! :mrgreen:
The sauce will come later! :lol:
Have any of you hobos actually drank 24 bottles of beer in a day?
We're grilling the usual bobs over hardwood. What's everyone else grilling?
Rich, same to you and crew (if you have one).
Wayne, easy to know not always easy to do.
I'm drinking another one to Dennis Hopper today.
I don't think I've had 24 beers - draft, bottled, or canned - altogether since my last throw-up and zombie-fication :shock: on the lawn in front of a girls' dorm :oops: , on camus, in 1966. :mrgreen: It was a hurl to remember. :? That was late on a Friday night. The hangover lasted (sweaty; fuzzy; stinky; dumb-ass-ified) until the following Tuesday. What a numbskull waste of time and brain. Instead of being a BMOC, I was a BDAOC - you know what the "DA" stood for.
Tramp, I never kept count, but I hung out with some pretty hard core beer drinkers back in my 20's and 30's (I'm going on 63), and I'm sure any of us could have done it once upon a time. The good news is most of us stayed away from the hard stuff for the most part.
A Delmonico as I mentioned above, soon as I mow the lawn, but I am cheating, doing it in the broiler! :shock:
An interesting man, no doubt! If you've not seen "Red Rock West" it's worth a look! You can pick it up in the bargain bin for a fiver! Apart from Hopper, there is Nicolas Cage, Lara Flynn Boyle, and prolific character actor the late J.T. Walsh. No one is quite what they seem.
Cheers, :mrgreen:
