Jon,

The computer's USB port supplies 5 volts that can be used to charge batteries.

Suppose you are in a situation like Pete often finds himself... in the middle of Amish country... beautiful scenery all around... not a power line in sight and your camera announces, "Battery Low!" then shuts down. Where can you charge your batteries? Aha... your laptop has USB ports. Just plug your USB charger into the laptop and in five hours you are ready to go again.

If you have the infected software loaded on the computer you can watch the little on-screen timer so you will know how much longer to charge.

The Creative Mind finds inspiration in the strangest places.

I worked out a few themes, but just at this time I had to appear in Boston...It was on the train, with its steely rhythms, its rattle-bang that is so often stimulating to the composer (I frequently hear music in the very heart of noise), that I suddenly heard - even saw on paper - the complete construction of the Rhapsody from beginning to end.

George Gershwin, on the composition of "Rhapsody In Blue."

I ran some trains on the third floor yesterday, and realized once again what a nice hobby this is. Of course the trains actually worked for once. I cleaned the tracks with mineral spirits and a rag, which seemed to work well. I'm noticing that clean track is imperative. The one glitch was the headlight and backup light on my Super Hudson are still dim. Anyone have thoughts on that, besides calling 3rd Rail?

Roger, You're correct that a weak TMCC signal can cause a dim or flickering headlamp. Also be certain there is 16-18 volts all the way around the track, not just at the transformer hook-up's!
