Amen! Cripes, that is as visceral and exciting as the first couple of times I read it, all those months ago.
Am I mistaken, or have you tweaked it since then?

Weekend Crane Kit Update:
Well it's now rolling and I've pretty much completed the custom boom. Tramp, Yeah, I could have sent it back, but one thing that makes us on this forum so tight is that most all of us here are so used to playing the hand we've been dealt, we challenge ourselves to make it work. I can tell enough from your writings that you know where I'm coming from. Cheers!! Number 8 and ya'll have got some catching up to do!!!

Looks pretty nice, Jon, though I agree with you, $60.00 seems a tad high since you had to supply the wheelsets. Regardless, nice job on the build-up-

Jon, what a great looking crane. I'd love to see a few more shots of it sometime. I just spent 5 hours completely rebuilding my 3751. It kinda ground itself up. Bent valve gear, broken everything. What a nightmare. Worked on the bench. Should I test it on the track? What a great night for beer. Hey, is the game on, Red Sox and that other team at the Ruth stadium?

Tramp, I hope your engine makes it through surgery.
Any idea's on what caused the bent shaft? How is 3rd Rail on replacement parts such as that? I feel Gary would bend over backwards to help any customer. Keep us posted.
Yep, there was something nice about yesterday with it being the first day of baseball once again!! Sorry, bro, but- Go Yanks!!!
Hey, I don't know who coined the phrase as the SP Daylight being "the most beautiful train in the world", but the phucker obviosly played with dolls.

Jon, I agree. I never liked the Daylight. Actually find it rather unappealing and circus-like.

What a mess on the 3751, but I was stunned that I fixed it. Getting it back together was quite the puzzle. It's running better than ever now. The cross-guide yoke came loose and jammed into the piston mechanism, bending everything. I ended up removing all the valve gear and siderods. I must have corrected a problem that was always slightly there. Who knows--I was dead drunk during the repair.

Tramp, Repairing trains sober is a frightening thing, indeed!! That's why I have amended all my train manuals to say:
Step One: Get Drunk.
Step Two: Don't Skip Step One.
Step Three: Repeat Step One As Often As Necessary.

Quick Troubleshooting Tips:
1: If engine runs ok, perform Step One.
2: If engines still malfunctions, Perform Step One.

Works for me. I can't see sober, so the beer really helps.

Gary is great about sending parts.

Jon, package just arrived! I'm awaiting beer time to open it. I'm in when you start, just give the sign.

Jon, I'm starting without ya. I tried to wait but it's closing dangerously fast onto 5!

5:30. Jon, just opened my package. That's the best! Thanks so much. The girls at Bukowski Liquors are very relieved, if you know what I mean.
