Thank you, Bob. On your RS-11, I presume the black part on the right end of the motor is the center gear tower.

Yes, Roy, you are correct. The black part in the lower right is the OEM gear reduction tower. It is held to the frame by two screws, not visible, and it serves as the motor mount.

Also notice the adhesive residue left when Henry removed the Pittman label from the motor.

Years ago I turned a brass flywheel for the motor shaft now hidden under the speaker. It proved largely ineffective due to the unusually slow rotation speed of the motor. Years later, while adding sound I removed the flywheel to make room for the speaker shown in the photo. Now a back-EMF V4 decoder and a Loksound PowerPack (keep alive) replace the flywheel.

Properly geared, that Pittman motor should give perfectly preposterous pulling power. How about two worm gear sets, in series?
