Hmmm. This is like another forum where the weather is reported from around the country every day.

But they don't ever mention beer.

Marty, LOL! "Use of deadly force authorized" indeed!

YOU'RE the one who's going to need the "deadly force", once she gets a little older and the boys start sneaking around! Hope you have a well-oiled shotgun!

Great photos! 8)

The Wilkes-Barre Airport used to host an air show, until a few years ago. I LOVED them. I still don't know why it went by the wayside. Some DB's with a 'safety' agenda, probably, protecting the huddled masses from their collective ignorance about life's dangers.

Every year, they'd have a fighter-jet sauntering in the air above the runway to show how slow they could go, and then they'd point straight up and turn on the juice, and in seconds, with a thundering roar, they'd be all but out of sight. Visceral!
Then one would go zooming along and above the runway at treeheight and then disappear, and everything would be quiet for a minute, and then it would come screaming in ACROSS the runway, where you weren't looking for it, and scare the bejabbers out of everybody.

I have a fond memory of a best friend of mine, (now deceased), from the last air show there. Him, me, and my oldest daughter (then a teenager) were standing in line waiting to walk through one of those immense cargo jets whose wings were so heavy they'd sag when sitting still. Well, a news crew set up with a camera pointing at one of the lady-'talents' doing the news-op, at our line, and at us  , directly behind her. Quick as a wink, we hatched our plot. My friend had a talent for an insane Jack-Nicholson-As-The-Joker smile, so he stood there doing that. I stood there like a doofus looking through my binoculars at my feet, and my daughter was doing Marilyn Monroe poses, all for the duration of the 'spot'.
Well, I thought for sure, when they got back to the newsroom and checked their work and chose their selections, they would spot what the cameraman didn't, and edit out the offending clip....

Nope. There we were on the 6 o'clock news, in all our glory!
Our 15 seconds of fame!

Our area was lucky.

Some destruction about 70 miles away. Some trees and wires down.I have no info on injuries.

The local TV stations started about 8:15 this morning with weather info, radar maps, etc. and continued this into the P.M.This was continuous coverage. When that stopped there were bulletins when needed. They did a great job.

Roger, glad you're OK. Between the tornadoes and hurricanes from you and AG over to Jon, I think I'll continue to suffer the winters up here.

Happy birthday, WIllie, just in case you peek in on us bums sitting around this fire just outside a' yard limits. You're better off, 'cause it's cold and it's wet and the d*mn winds blowin' the rain sideways, won't give us a chance to stop shiverin'. Hope you're still enjoying yer straight-life in the land of SPF, sand, bikinis, and superstars. We'll still drink with ya, if youse ever lose yer position. Our loyalty's strong and our memory's long. Have a good one, bro.

I tell ya, Dirt, it's this damn global warmin'. Had to turn the room heaters on yesterday, and the friggin' wind blew so hard I thought it was gonna launch the winter cover on our pool into orbit. Wind out of the east is almost non-existent here, but yesterday that's what we got. Tons of sticks and those little heli-copter seeds off of the neighbors maple trees piled up on my side porch, and the gusts were so loud it sounded like thunder. Then it did begin to thunder like crazy, but no rain. When the thunder stopped, then the rain started big-time. Goddamn enviromentalists! When the hell are they gonna fix this weather? Who ever heard of needin' heaters on halfway through May?
