For those that are observant, the men on the far right are starting to walk.

Lots of people lean slightly forward when they start to walk.

The lens one views things through has a bearing here, I dare say.

Back to the Old Home Week photo, was it common for folks to wear ancestral garb at these events? I refer to the gents in Native American costume to the left of the pole and the ladies in what looks like Japanese dress next to them.
You begin flying with a full bag of luck and an empty bag for experience. The object is to fill the bag of experience before you empty the bag of luck.

Judging by that, it would seem that residents at the time these postcards were made interpreted the celebration as that of their old homes. At that time, I wouldn't be surprised if many residents were first or second generation Americans.

Is the person seated in the back of that vehicle, on the right, wearing blackface and a top hat?

Possibly, but I was not there in '07. The card is cataloged as: Jan. 1,07. Shippensburg, PA. CAL. [Special Comics, four clowns]

There is apparently a version with only 2 occupants. Took me a while to locate and verify it to be a Laughlin card being one of the early unnumbered series of cards. Also, the catalog is probably not 100% complete.

I'm sorry. I should have stated my inquiry better, as, "Would anybody conclude, as I have, tentatively, that the person...is wearing blackface." I'll try to be more careful with my wording.

No, I'm just playing a bit on another lovely morning here in the home office in between working on publications.

Again, my answer is "possibly".

Of course, this person will now be chastised throughout history and forced to resign in disgrace from whatever posts they might hold and live forever in shame under a rock.
