Favorite Movies
Re: Favorite Movies
Perhaps my favorite movie is Jeremiah Johnson. One line I loved was when Jeremiah found the bald mountain man buried up to his neck in the ground. He asked him if he was alright and he replied " Sure, sure, I got a fine horse under me". Jeremiah then asked " The injuns put you here?", to which the other replied "T'wern't Mormons"

I liked the part where Will Geer asked Robert Redford if he could skin a grizzly. Redford said he would skin anything he could bring him, so he brought him a live one
When I lived in Calif, I worked with the father of Josh Albee the kid who played the mute Caleb. He had some interesting stories about the movie since his wife and son were in Utah for 6 months during the filming.

I can't hazard to guess how many times I've seen that scene, either watching the movie or Youtube clips. It never fails to make me laugh no matter how many times I watch it. The subtleties of the facial expressions (and sometimes not so subtle!) are priceless.

Incontinentia Buttocks.
Torturers, White Racists, Gay Bashers, Rich Psychopaths.

I saw City of Industry on TV last night a crime movie. I don't think it was famous but it's a good movie. I don't know how they come up with movie names. There is a town here named City of Industry.

I'm watching "Saving Private Ryan" for the third+ time since it was released in 1998. I'm still not sure why I keep being interested in it. Having been born during that time, it certainly is a window into a remarkable part of history for me though.

It is an excellent movie. They say the opening scene when they hit the beach is very real.
I watch a lot of YouTube documentaries about WW2...

So many of the individual vignettes are poignant and moving. The one wherein they are examining "dog-tags" to perhaps find Ryan's was especially moving, on just a moment ago.
And when they find Private Ryan on the bridge, and he is as he is, if there is a dry eye and no chocked throats , I am not one of them . Courage and dignity are truths we all know when we witness them.
IMHO .

Re: Favorite Movies
Some folks interpreted Spike Lee's reaction to his movie not receiving Best Picture, last night on The Oscars, as his being angry and mean-spirited, " 'visibly upset' after the Green Book win". You know?
Aw. Tisk tisk. Mr. Lee not happy. Aw.
But was there any chance he might have been gracious about it and happy for the one that won?
I mean, ya' Know. Is that possible?
Is his movie that interesting and superior? I have no idea, ya' know, and have NO intention of ever seeing it. You know.

Don't really care. Generally did not care about almost any of the movies this year. Did like Christopher Robin,
Was decent w/o a host (maybe they need to think ahead and keep that as the new tradition!) and got to see Brian May play guitar.
Went to bed early and tried to sleep through the wind rattling the house all night.

Half the people you know are below average.
