MultiPlex sectional O scale track late 1930's early 40's

Larry Muir was definitely a class act. he and I clicked the first time we met. I remember one o scale show, the inner circle showed up wed or thur don't remember, and Larry had the following days itinerary all planned out, we were headed for Houston. a very large bus showed in the morning and 26 of us climbed on board, we thought this was going to be a long bus ride until we pulled into DFW airport, we all climbed on a commercial airliner and off we went for a great day of layout hopping. forget the layouts we saw but they were nice. had a catered make that a box lunch and we looked at more layouts. then came the ride from hell... major storms over DFW so we were stuck in stack em & pack em holding pattern. anyway were due in to DFW at 7pm and didn't land until way after 2am with train show in the morning. boy were we tired.

My old layout in Humble was on that Larry Muir Houston tour and was probably the first one you went to from the airport. I remember the razing Rod Miller got because he got lost at the airport and somebody had to go back and pick him up.

Larry Muir was definitely a class act.

There was a very nice article in the late O Scale News 48/ft called "Thursday Night at Larry's" which detailed a lot of information about Mr. Muir. Well worth the effort to find and read.

He was a pilot and a Lobaugh collector. Did not know he was wealthy enough to comandeer airliners. Lorell Joiner used to do that.

Bob is referring to the Hobbyhill tankers and reefers imported by Larry and Mike Hill. Bob's paint work was (he is retired from painting) first rate.

Hello world ...up date on the Multiplex layout ....

flipping through Model Craftsman February 1941 .... Albert Sigg of Philadelphia is standing in the middle of my layout ..... full description of the layout .... wish I had this photo when I first got the pile of track ....but then that would have taken all the fun out of the project ... please note I added the roundhouse only "additional track" from original layout ...which caused the sidings to the coal tower to flip to the other side of the turn table ... Albert also had a Model Structures water tower and coal tower!!! still lots of work to do ... but fun to add a bit more of the back story to the layout . In the text of the article it mentions the fully automatic switching .... something I have to still work on ...
