By the way, because I asked the above question about this forum does NOT mean that I am unhappy with it. :D

OK, so here's something to talk about: retirement.

I'm finally retired. My wife retires on April 28. We're moving in the first week of May to our retirement home.

You know about Spousal Support with Social Security? Be knowledgeable in advance, because once you sign up for SS retirement, there is no going back. Helped us out about $200/month.

More likely having to start doing yard work again. Get rid of the last debris from winter, fertilize the lawn, put down the bug barrier for the foundation, put snowblower to bed and get the lawn mower ready, wash deck et al.

"fertilize the lawn" Why? Then you need to mow more. My neighbor offered to pay for a weed and feed service to come by. Thankfully in PA. you need the homeowner's signature to spray herbicide. Some guy knocks on my door and says " Your neighbor will pay for a year of lawn spraying" Then my neighbor pops up saying "yes rob i'll pick the tab." Noway that stuff is nastier them toy train smoke. I like dandelions, mint, violets and thistles.

So, Robert. Are you and your neighbor still on friendly terms?
What is it doesn't like that is growing in/on your lawn?

Roger, just a wave or head nod. He is a anal yard nut. If this man cuts his grass on Tuesday Then i cut mine on Thursday. He will come out and cut on Thursday so they look the same. One year i had a landscaper (14 year old kid) cut my yard. Mr. yard nut wanted my landscaper's cutting schedule. He also questioned this kid if he could cut in the same direction as him. That time i paid the kid a few extra bucks to start in the middle and circle his way out cutting in a spiral. Yard nut has a pipe in each corner of his yard. every week he changes direction of cut. He places a peg with string in one pipe then stretches it out to the next on. This gives him a nice straight line to start cutting. One week he cuts house to street. next week neighbor to neighbor. 3rd.week house to street on an angle and the 4th week opposite angle house to street. It's s big production and fun to watch from a lawn chair.

HOA and I don't want a front lawn that looks like it was imported from an inner city vacant lot or a desert. Backyard is effectively a so what zone - enough oak trees and others to make a lawn difficult to exist between the acid pH and the shade.

Mowing is bit of exercise and done with a battery powered mower; clippings get tossed under the trees into the wooded area. This bag everything into disposable bag nonsense is just that - nonsense. Clippings are also saved for at my son's garden plot.

Had a neighbor like that, too. Out there with scissors some days  ; his kids were not allowed on their yard. He was a complete and total smeghead. His kids grew up to be model smegheads. Big celebrations when they moved 3 years ago -- good couple with good kids there now.

I came close to burning down his fence.......and writing Arsehole on his front lawn in 6' letters with permanent herbicide. I spent a couple of years working on pesticide research.....

I was thinking to use dog urine or fertilizer to spell the same thing.

I've considered that as well, but the dogs refuse to learn cursive.
