LOL, I tore apart my old Epson printer last night, looking for parts I could use. I can't believe they can make a printer that complicated for the little money they charge.

I did manage to pull 2 motors out (4 actually, 2 are steppers I think). The P/N on both is RS445PA15200R. I couldn't find a datasheet on them but I think they're 12-42v, 6600rpm. From what I read, the 15200 means (15) diameter of the winding wire used and (200) number of windings.

If they don't operate under 12v they're no good for my purposes. Guess I'll stick some voltage to them and find out!

I put 12v to the motors and from what my tach told me they were running at 2900rpm

Yep, the new one I got (WF-2760) is even faster, spits out the paper before I can catch it.

I joined this forum 1 month after joining OGR back in 2004.

To be honest, I didn't like the remarks posted on this forum about OGR, I recall once that almost every topic on the 1st page was about OGR. I even made a comment about it and said I would rather see topics about actual modeling than topics about topics (on OGR). To tell the truth, that's still a valid statement, but there's more topics/discussion here on what really matters to me than over at NK (yeah, I said it ).

But DAMN...Some of the idiotic topics, posts, and comments over there have FINALLY gotten under my skin. Also, there's some "Holier than thou" individuals there that just can never be wrong and expect everyone to take what they say as gospel.

Example, I was told running battery-powered, remote-control would not work on these amp-eating engines we have, that a 3amp circuit board would not work. Well, for 1-1/2 years I have proven them wrong.

There's other things that have made me rethink why I posted there, but I won't go into them now. Let's just say I'm more comfortable over here now and enjoy reading what you guys have to say.

I remember that stuff quite well. In fact I am the one that started the Crapper. I did it in hopes that all the stuff that belonged there would not be posted in other topics. It worked for a while. I have never found that much to complain about on OGR. I don't particularly like OGR but I read the stuff that a poster says is bad ,go to OGR and don't understand all the fuss. I will admit to being a little, well rather, naive about some things. IMHO MTJ is rather calm and very open.

Well, you cannot discuss what goes on there, there. They will cut your post out so quick it will make your head swim. So your option is not discussing it, or discussing it elsewhere. Fortunately, that choice is up to each individual. We never, ever have to respond to something that we do not like.

The perennial post: "Let's not discuss this again". Followed by " yeah, who wants to read this stuff", and it continues.

I don't even open threads that I am not interested in. I am simply not at all interested in what you did on your layout today. Maybe that is why I cannot bring myself to participate on Facebook - who cares what you had for dessert yesterday? But others love it, so who am I to rain on their parade?

I guess with OGR I just didn't want to believe those guys would do some of the things they've done, and be so partisan about it.

I see the staff's arrogant "titty babies", as my wife would have called them, getting away with talking down to so many posters it makes me sick while others, like BobT said, get a post yanked for no apparent reason.

There is a plethora of information there IF you have high enough waders to get thru all the crap to find it.

Latest MMW thread is turning into a peesing contest over whether one can discuss Key or Kohs moels in an MMW thread. It just went personal, as in attack mode.

Most MMW threads go haywire because folks are praising non-existent models. This one is different – MMW has produced pilot models, and appears ready for production. So maybe the mere mention of MMW, good, bad, or indifferent, will start a fight?

Same here. To me, anything after GP9s look all the same and all brass models of them look alike too. There's not but so many ways you can make a brass SD-*** without them looking all alike.

So...it must be the drive system that makes this thing great. Just don't take the drive apart to see what's so magically delicious

I just checked. They admit to kidding each other, and sort of defused the guy who suggested that they were "getting in to it."

So, my mistake. They were just trying to make it look like a kerfluffle. Sort of a friendly squabble between friends. I guess.
