I remember that tanneries smell as bad, if not worse, than a paper mill and we did need both once upon a time.
Not so sure anymore.

That building would make a nice model that Rufus could model.

Agreed, but without the smell it would be sort of plain vanilla :lol:

Could be a vanilla tannery. Ever wonder where vanilla wafers come from? Right down stream from the Soylent Green plant.

The store seems to sell a wide variety of products, a general store.
Do you know if it was in a small town?

Yup. Cool....modeling scene....

Open slats in the upper section tends to put me in mind of a corn crib or something that needs air ventilation for drying....

Yes. I remember some scenes very similar to this on branches of the B&O and the W&LE in hy home area in the late 1939 and into the 1940s.
