Think maybe 18" or 2' gauge....think Grandt Line sells kits for the trams and used to sell parts for the track, too. Just need to do the scenery thing for a quarry! That'll cost some real estate in the basement....

I am thinking closer to say 36" based on the guy standing next the track. As for the real estate, that will use up that useless basement corner!

Here's an idea ---- 30". There were plenty of 30" industrial lines and there's stuff available from the On30 world.

Straight & curved track can be hand laid using tiny rail (code 55, I suppose), or HO or N scale track. The primitive single point switches ought to be equally achievable.

It's horse drawn so not powered except by oats (O scale ones at that...).

Rest is doable, but it's for someone with both time and space in hand. Curious to see if Murph might find it intriguing....

Probably, yes - safety device.....

Might also note the classic Pa road safety fence almost certainly made of black locust posts half buried with the 2 braided steel cables strung through them...... Wait 30 years, extract posts, flip them over and put new cable in.....

I remember studying the Credit Mobiliser [sp] scandal when I was in high school-1948 to 1952.
It was still a big deal and hard to understand for most high school kids [IMHO] and still is rather complicated.
